Can you pay your players properly Riot?

When one of the PREMIERE ADC's quits for an entire split because he makes more money NOT working for you, that should signal that it is an issue for the game, the "sport" and the people who watch. Say what you like about doublelift but he has been around for a very long time and is one of the best ADC in the world. To lose a player like that because you refuse to pay your players what they are worth is almost as pathetic as getting called out for short changing your casters.

lol. LCS is just like any minimum wage job, it's truly nothing special.

While I would normally be inclined to support players who claim wages are unfair (as it's been an ongoing issue for a while), with DL I'll make a massive exception.

Back in 2015 CLG was touted as an NA team that could possibly make a dent at worlds and compete alongside the likes of the korean teams. Led by a core featuring pobelter and doublelift, many people sorta decided to instantly push them ahead of the likes of KT rolster/the EU teams. Wanna know what happened?

CLG went 2-4, DL choked massively (something that shocked quite a lot of people), and he left the team.

2016 worlds rolls around, and TSM is touted as a team that could possibly make a dent at worlds and compete alongside the korean teams. Led by a core featuring bjergsen and doublelift, many people (especially on the forums) pushed them ahead of pretty much every team barring SKT/KOO. Wanna know what happened?

TSM went 3-3, DL choked massively (something that wasn't too shocking due to what happened last year), and he left the team.

While wages are and have been a serious topic of the LoL teams for a while, the fact he's choosing to do it at this time makes me unable to really "believe" him and makes me think he's just using a big topic to cover his tracks again/save face. I would not be surprised if he ends up joining a new team sometime this year, and then proceeds to basically repeat what he's been doing for the past 2 years in which he shows up big in the regular season but chokes massively when things start getting serious before leaving/finding a new team to "harvest".

Forgive them, Schrute Farm Fan (sadly that spin off never came huh?), for they know not what they down vote. There's a subtext to Double's pseudo break, and everyone's taking the bait line and sinker. What a bunch of lamers.

getting paid to play video games only contributes to the downfall of society

This thread does not deserve this many down votes. The presentation sucks but the question is necessary.

Players will follow the money. Riot will pay up or watch players leave to another game. Similar to how some MMA fighters leave the UFC to go make better money elsewhere.
