NA LCS MVP (My Thoughts)

Alright

This split, more than any it seems, has such a large number of players that are in the running for MVP. However, some stand out more than others

For example, Xmithie has been getting enormous amounts of praise for turning Immortals' play around. On the other hand, guys like Lira aren't getting as much credit for doing the same thing, since his team is doing worse.

In my opinion, there are a clear few front runners out of the many potential options. These include,

Bjergsen

Ssumday

Olleh

Jensen

I think Bjerg is always in contention for MVP. Many a' game he has grabbed the rest of TSM by the neck and dragged them to victory. He is considered the best player in NA for a reason

Ssumday is an absolute beast. There are no two ways around it. He's a monster. Ssumday has been such a consistent force in the top lane for team Dignitas, and has carried them several games. Even when the rest of Dig has looked bad, Ssumday has always looked good

Olleh has easily been the best support in the league this split. His ability on playmakers like Thresh, Morganna, and Bard are absolutely mesmerizing to watch. He has actually hard carried the Immortals through some games off the back of insane initiation and excellent roaming. Not often has a support been in contention for MVP, but I think this guy has a serious chance of winning it this split.

Jensen has had an absolutely phenomenal split. His laning stats are near the top, his damage output is high, and he has the best KDA in the league.

Now some people accuse him of being a KDA player, which has been true in the past. But his play this split has just not backed that statement up. If you watch his positioning in teamfights, he is actually super aggressive, and constantly putting damage and pressure out onto the enemy team. He has improved his influence across the map and his willingness to help his team. I believe in an interview when he was asked about being a KDA player, he said something along the lines of It may seem that way, but I'm just better than them . And his play this split has clearly backed that statement up.

Out of all the potential options for MVP, if I was voting, my vote would be for Jensen. He has been performing out of his mind this split, and in my opinion has been playing better than Bjerg. He has, at least in my opinion, truely been the most valuable player.

On a side note Ssong is getting coach of the split

I thoroughly disagree with a few of those, mostly because if we're looking at the second word of "mvp" you can eliminate them quite easily. If I had to list a top 3 in the "MVP race", it'd be xmithie lira and jensen in that order as all three look to currently be hard-carrying their teams through games. Ssumday would've been a popular choice for spring if he had continued his trend of carrying dig's games, not so much now as you could argue that altec has done more for the team this split than he has (as has the assistance of shrimp who looks to be having a renaissance of sorts). Olleh is kinda out of left field, as while he might be the best support the overall pool of not just them but botlaners in general look to be suffering a down split of sorts with no real consistent #1's.

I agree with MYE, Xmithie will and most likely will win MVP, does he deserve the award, you d* right he does. Jensen is the catalyst of MVP with such stats, does he deserve the award too - Yeah, he does too. Ssumday not really, during week 1-3 I thought he would be MVP but week after week he's been getting better and all but nothing really stands out from what he's been doing all split, which is ball - not doubt, but MVP not so much.

Like MYE, I too like Lira as a possible MVP, while I think he's better than Xmithie as far as "jungle" he won't win MVP knowing Riot's nature of just looking up the team rankings and ordering MVP/1-3rd teams etc. With Olleh - He's improved NO DOUBT about that, best support - maybe, but not MVP. I personally think he's just a product of a system, a system that Xmithie really got off the ground when he joined Immortals.

MVP Xmithie - Immortals are #1 or #2 in the standings and have been for like 8-9 weeks now, took a....... not garbage but let's say an inexperienced team and made them into a "real" team instead of 5 players that are capable of doing something each year, but not doing much to win. He did the opposite, he took every player and really made them all into 1 single unit together.

MVP Jensen - Like I said, stats do play a big part and while I personally love stats I can't help but look at Jensen and think for most of the split he's really just been in a trance since losing to TSM for the past 2 Finals/3 meetings total for Jensen. He's/was more focused on himself oppose to the team and that's why C9 were in such a hole during the bulk of the split, he's selfishness for lack of a better word.

MVP Lira - Let's be honest sometimes it's Lira - 1v 9 with how unproductive his team can be themselves, longest avg games in yet, the NV players can barely get any kills but to say NV are bad with Lira is possible MVP choice. The team has the lowest deaths per game. #1 in Avg game and yet, #1 in least deaths with Lira's shotcalling be the factor. That's pretty much telling people what to do perfectly at times. If Xmithie is getting all of this attention, Lira deserves some too.

To me it's Jensen he just seems to always do well and I honestly don't think C9 could be that good of a team without him and that imo is what makes someone an MVP. I also think there is a case for Xmithie but those are the only two I'd really consider personally. The others people listed in contention are certainly good players and are close to that level but I also believe that they could be replaced and their teams would still be pretty decent.
