So where is the professionalism?

So for years people have tried to get esports to grow and become accepted as a legitimate sport and form of entertainment. So exactly why are we getting casters like this? In other professional sports you know there are good teams and really bad ones, but when it comes game time both sides treat each other equally and speak with respect. Here we have casters calling out teams, talking about how terrible they are or how weak their team is like they are not even worth their time. Where is the professionalism and sportsmanship that is supposed to come with these types of competitions?

I'll take blunt honesty, bravado, throwing barbs, and cockiness/confidence over pussyfooting, hugging it out, and ass kissing any day of the week. I'll take those involved verbally sparring with each other.

By the way, there are sports that have the trash talking thrown around all the time. MMA, professional wrestling, boxing, football, for example.

I'll take these casters easily. They still give great analysis, AND also offer entertainment value to draw my attention even more.

Someone like Cris Collinsworth, who constantly coddles the hairy beanbags of both Peyton Manning and Tom Brady...no thanks. A lot of the commentators for a lot of the sports...I'd rather record flatulence over hearing the droning and carebear aura coming from them.

Also, one of the best attacks you can do to an opponent, is renting space in his/her mind, poking, ribbing, dumpster-talking that opponent. Because if they're thin-skinned, or bruise easily, like it appears you do, OP, they'll go on tilt. You get an advantage over them. And when you beat them, you turn that apartment you're renting in their thinking dome, into a house. And it's in human nature to seek an advantage, including mentally.

The casters here also enjoy participating in the entertainment factor, by "calling out teams," as you put it. Show me in the rules that say they have to be LoL's version of Barney and Friends.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, here is a definition of your word "professionalism:"

The practicing of an activity, especially a sport, by professional rather than amateur players.

What defines a professional? Getting paid for the job. These casters are not only paid to give analysis and breakdowns, but also to fuel the entertainment....the hype....to tell a story in the match if it's between rivalries even. They're doing their jobs wonderfully, to my viewpoint at least.

I agree. Yamatocannon was way out of line with the C9 line. Montecristo is usual negative montecristo towards western teams. I think he's coming around a bit more, but he's still an ass. Thing is, Montecristo at least is knowledgeable about the game, and has some valuable insight. Yamatocannon brings none of this. He says really dumb things, and the more he does that, the more his "charisma" starts to falter.

Deep voice or not, if you're ignorant, and saying offensive things, you're going to be hitting the road. The community is very fickle.
