Idea to spice the LCS up

So... After watching the SHC vs. Gambit game, I realised that EU scene is really overwhelmed with great teams at the moment. What I mean here is that I do not really know which team I'd like to see out of the LCS, while I'd really want to see both C9E and NiP inside of it. Now what my point is really a question to Riot - do you consider increasing the amount of teams participating in the LCS next season? Having 12 teams playing against each other would seem way more interesting in the current state of European competitive scene. I know it doesn't look as neccesary for the NA LCS but we could always bring in the new brTT's team (the Brazillian-Korean superteam).

The only problem I see here (putting aside the costs, of course), would be the team it would've taken to actually play all those games as well as the stream times. I have come with an idea already but I don't know if it would be favored by the community.

My idea is that we make every team play with every other 3 games instead of 4 (so with increased number of teams we stick the overall games played at the same). Now we face the problem of who plays 2 times on blue side and who on red side. That's my solution: each team plays against every other team 2 times on SR (one time on the red side and one time on the blue side) and as a third game against certain team they play on CS (a Dominion game), where it doesn't matter in the slightest which side you're playing on (so this matter could be settled even with a coin toss). Because of that we could still leave the number of games played per day at its current state - just not every team would've played 2 games each week.

What community would gain is:

  • more teams in the LCS
  • more variety of games played

What Riot would gain:

  • probably increased interest in the Dominion game mode

I'd love to see your feedback, guys, as I personally would LOVE to see it being handled that way.

In all honesty, this just seems like it drastically over-complicates things, plus I don't see how it's appropriate to include Dominion into the determination of anything for the SR only LCS. Not everyone likes Dominion and it's entirely possible that the professional players never play the alternative game modes because they are busy doing solo or duoqueue and practicing with the team on SR.

If you want to see other teams, there are plenty of ways to watch them other than increasing the number of teams in LCS. You can watch the Challenger Series, watch those particular players streams as often times they will play ranked 5's with the team members to practice (for example Bischu), or keep track of other types of events in which challenger or higher tier teams play.
