We use a system similar to the Associated Press power rankings for College Football or Basketball - a panel of writers vote on who they think should be listed, and an aggregate is produced from combining their rankings.
Our panel votes on these criteria, in this order:
- Recent results
- Predicted future performance
- Historical trends (as they pertain to future results and present form)
- The "eye" test (How good does a team look, relative to the rest of the world)
Our panel is available at the footer of this article, with each of their credentials and specialties. It is important to note that all our voters follow all five major professional leagues (LPL, OGN, GPL, NA/EU LCS) on a weekly basis.

- ( - ) Samsung Galaxy White - OGN - (8-2)
Samsung White beat SK Telecom T1 K in the OGN Champions Summer quarterfinals. The team was able to rebound from a game one loss to roll off three straight wins. In each of their wins, White was able to take advantage of slight errors on T1K's part to score the victory. Samsung Galaxy White awaits the winner of the Samsung Galaxy Blue / Jin Air Green Wings Stealths series that is scheduled for this upcoming Friday.

- ( - ) SK Telecom T1 K - OGN - (4-6)
SK Telecom T1 K fell 3-1 to Samsung Galaxy White in the OGN Champions Summer quarterfinals. T1K was able to execute a surprise middle lane Zilean in the first game to record a win, but a mistake in each of the next two games doomed the squad. The deciding fourth game was a case of Samsung White not only out-picking T1K, but then dominating them on the Rift. The loss drops them into the NLB Diamond League.

- (+3) Edward Gaming - LPL - (12-4)
Edward Gaming managed to 2-0 OMG for the first time in LPL this week. What with the support player substitution on OMG's team, it wasn't difficult to predict the result, and OMG certainly gave them a run for their money, but their persistence and resourcefulness, even from behind, allowed EDG to win out. EDG also made the trip to IEM Shenzhen, where they split 1-2 in a best of three against World Elite in the finals. The next week will prove crucial in determining which of the three Chinese teams in the first place deadlock emerges victorious in time for the playoffs.

- ( - ) Najin White Shield - OGN (5-6)
- ( - ) OMG - LPL - (11-5)
OMG had yet another low week. Despite this, they managed to look strong even in their defeat against Edward Gaming with a sub. Then, with the return of Cloud in the set against Invictus Gaming, OMG managed to dominated iG without utilizing any bans. Despite losing the second game, OMG nearly came back from a significant gold deficit, and if they continue to practice with Cloud, they could return to the dominating form we remember from Week 4. Still, it would do them well to 2-0 World Elite this weekend if they want to stay in contention for first place. Given WE's recent high coming off a victory at IEM Shenzhen, this will prove much more difficult than OMG's recent struggles have prepared them for.

- (+1) SK Telecom T1 S - OGN - (7-4)
- (-4) Najin Black Sword - OGN - (7-4)
Though NaJin Black Sword have narrowly dropped out of Champions Summer in a 3-2 loss, they have much to be proud of. Against late-game juggernauts SK Telecom T1 S, Sword found their aggressive plays deflected, especially against MaRin's Gragas. However, their play calling in the later stages of their two victories was impressive, doubly so against such an experienced lategame team as T1 S. Sword must undoubtedly work on their ability to break deadlocks, and the NLB will be a fantastic opportunity to do so.

- ( - ) Team WE - LPL - (12-4)
With a 2-0 against their sister team and a 2-1 victory against Edward Gaming at IEM Shenzhen, World Elite proved that the war over who claims the title of "best team in China" isn't an affair of two teams, but of three. WeiXiao has looked increasingly strong in each of his games, and some are even saying that he's primed to steal NaMei's throne as the top AD carry in China. CaoMei has proven that he understands how to use teleport better than any other top laner in China, and his timing has gotten WE ahead in many bottom lane skirmishes. If WE can continue to improve their synergy and overcome the language barrier inherent in the roster, we could see them taking first place in LPL this weekend.

- ( - ) Jin Air GreenWings Stealths - OGN - (4-2)
- ( - ) CJ Entus Blaze - OGN - (3-3)
- (+5) LMQ - NA LCS - (15-7)
After five weeks of ties, only one team is left on the throne! Using the card-locking Twisted Fate, XiaoWeiXiao was at all the right places at all the right times, picking up a 7-0-6 KDA in a convincing win against TSM. LMQ's performance remained consistent as they faced CLG for sole ownership of the No. 1 spot. Ackerman's Gragas not only bullied Seraph in lane but made an explosive showing in team-fights. With only two weeks left in the split, LMQ will do all that they can to maintain their lead over three other teams tied for No. 2.

- (-1) CJ Entus Frost - OGN - (3-3)
- (-1) Alliance - EU LCS - (16-6)
Alliance finally managed to get back on track after a four game losing streak this week, managing to defeat both Gambit Gaming and Supa Hot Crew. However there’s no time for them to rest on their laurels as any loss could put them even with Fnatic, and send them into second place shortly thereafter. Oh yeah, and the two teams showdown for first place in Week 10.

- (+1) Fnatic - EU LCS - (15-7)
Fnatic continues to tear through the EU LCS. They have now won seven games in a row and have completely run the table. Soaz and xPeke seem to have recovered from subpar opening weeks and fully adapted to the metagame, while Yellowstar and Rekkles look to be in top form, and have dominated other bot lanes repeatedly. Their match against Alliance in Week 10 should answer the question of who the best team in Europe is.

- (-2) Counter Logic Gaming - NA LCS - (13-9)
In the week that CLG was supposed to come out big and make a claim as the best NA team, they fell incredibly short. In their first match against EG, they were beaten in rotations and fought a number of suboptimal fights. The team were unable to bounce back in their bigger match of the week against LMQ despite Doublelift's best efforts. Going forward, CLG's games against Curse and TSM this week will determine if they can remain within chasing distance of LMQ.

- (NEW) Cloud9 - NA LCS - (13-9)
The only other team to go 2-0 last week, Cloud9 have readjusted their course and look to make a final run before the end of the split. Running the Kog'Maw and Jinx last week, Sneaky had solid positioning as he dished out tons of damage from C9's backline. Next week will prove to be a heavy week for C9 as they fight LMQ and Dignitas for a chance to break out of their three way tie and move ahead of the pack.

- (-3) Star Horn Royal Club - LPL - (9-7)
StarHorn had an impressive 3-1 record this week, but it came arguably against some of the weaker teams in LPL. In addition, none of their wins came easily, and they even managed to drop a game to LGD Gaming, a team constantly criticized for a small champion pool and frictions in shot-calling. It's starting to look like, while all the other strong teams in China continue to improve, SHRC's competitiveness is stagnating. Even so, they remain in fourth place, and their roster is packed with gifted players. They could very well still make a push for the 2014 World Championships before the split ends.

- ( - ) Team SoloMid - NA LCS - (13-9)
TSM continue their consistent streak against the bottom three teams as both Bjergsen and WildTurtle turned up the heat against EG. With Amazing making all the early plays on Lee Sin, both TSM carries got ahead and finish the game without dying. Against LMQ, TSM was unable to replicate their early game success as Amazing had a far less successful game on Rengar. With their final match against CLG next week, TSM have the opportunity to tie their head-to-head record with their rival to 2-2 if they win.
