Getting into these tournaments doesn't cost money, right?

Tickets are free, right? Yes? Otherwise I'm not sure why anyone would go, tbh. Like it's an event, sure. That's fun. But for money? Ehhhh...

Like when you go to a real sporting event, I get it to a degree. I wouldn't spend as much money as they demand, but still, the stadium is theirs so there's all kinds of team-related stuff to do in the concourse. There's history attached to the building. All the great players and coaches who've walked the halls, etc. There's the atmosphere. Braving the frigid winter to show your hometown team your support. Plus, seeing the game in person is different than seeing it on a screen. With League, you're seeing it on a screen either way.

The only difference is rather than sitting at home where you can pause freely, use your own toilet, get free snacks whenever you want, and get a nice view of the action... you're sitting in a sea of screaming strangers, airhorns are blowing into your ear, you're paying through the ass for refreshments and you're watching the action on a big screen that's like 200 feet away.

I'm curious as to what I'm missing about seeing epsorts live. Anyone who's been to an event got any insights?

One could use the same logic with traditional sports. There are a few die hards, a few who know players on the teams or something, but most...go just so they can brag about it in someway or another. Watching from home will ALWAYS be the most practical way to do it. If your ego needs some help, you can always show up to an event and post about it on facebook for the next 12 weeks.
