Don't watch ESports much, but I have a question

Why don't ESport 'athletes' careers last a long time? IRL athletes can play for years and years barring injury, so why do some ESport players careers only last a few years? This is one of the weirdest things I've noticed about LoL Esports. I know the meta changes and all, but if you're a good player you're going to stay a good player, you don't just suddenly suck. Tom Brady doesn't go from being Tom Brady to being Johnny Manziel in 3 years, so why does this happen to ESport players?

1- No franchising. This leads to a "win now" mentality, with no care for "building" a player or team. 2-Esports takes mental skill more than physical skill. This is why you will never see a pro player in their 30's....younger peopls brains work faster. Also in regular sports, their physical size is a factor. You dont just find a 7'2 human to be your basketball center, working at the 7-11 down the street 3-AGE. Because of #2 above, mmost players are young and their egos get in the way...see"Dardoch" for a prime example. In regular sports, young players are ALWAYS surrounded by older peers who keep them in line.

That is easy ... because LoL is not an action game, it is a strategy game with its "meta"/rules changing every 3 weeks.

Brady, Messi and LeBron will be Brady, Messi and Lebron even if they go out with a slight injury for 3 months. The game, the leagues, the rules and the teams they will be returning to are going to be the same and their talents unaltered, even if they only did recuperation training for that time.

Try stop playing league for 3 months and return to find new meta, new champions, new opponents, new teams and possibly new rules in the game. Your talent is the same, but all those factors are not, so suddenly you are behind and you have to fight and train and read and play quite a lot to get back to the top.

This creates a constant struggle to keep up with that frantic pace, which few can handle for too much time.

League and esports are also new. We don't know how long people will last (like Faker is consider abnormal to still play), but part of it has to be achievements (Faker is abnormal because he is still on top). The judging of players is way harsher in Lol at least. Like, Bjergson is consider good. But he has never made it far in worlds. After a few years of never achieving, the player gets a bad rep. In sports you get that bad rep, but you can still keep competing due to the huge rosters and such.

New better players show up on challenger ladder. Not to mention League players are in their best years yet they cant do anything with their life. THey have to play constantly up to 16 hours a day. They cant have girlfriends, parties...

Some players are better in certain metas. when the meta shifts it can actually remove a top tier player.

I know when it comes to LoL Esports in general, it's a rough road by simply the amount of opportunities you get to compete at the level. Also, youth tends to play an important part in a game such as this; honestly I do find that to be a misconception though. An ever changing game is actually one of the hardest to make a long career out of. Other games such as Counter Strike or fighting games see a better longevity as players could genuinely go into their 40s off of their own mechanics and instinct; something that's harder with MOBAs.

Doesn't it have to do with age? Mental strength is different from person to person but brain functions (reaction timea, speed and "agility" etc) tend to slow down after the age of 27. Pretty sure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Theres alot of different factors in games. Counterstrike has older players but they don't have to think about for jnstance like somethinf a starcraft player has to. This is a very basic explanation. Plsu its y 6am so I'm fried. Lmao
