I'm loosing interest in the LCS because it feels like the teams have no identity

... because it feels like any player could go anywhere, and the stuctures in themselves mean nothing.

Bit longer version (but not to long.) :

Last year, with a few friends, we followed the LCS EU, and then world. But This year, we all find that we can't get into it. After dicussing this with them between 2 games, we realised it's because last year, we supported UOL because they where the fun outsiders with a star player that broke the jungle meta, and then Fnatics because they were the european team for worlds.

But this year, both those structures are composed from players from other teams, while their players have gone to NA or other european team. It's not UOL or fnatics anymore, except in name. Basically, it's like between 2 seasons, all the player get back in the market and the team a remade from scratch randomly.

Kinda like in soccer (or for non americans, football), where the players will go to any club that can pay them regardless of location and nationality.

But the clubs are still linked to a city. And there's the international competitions (world cup / continental cups), where all the player go back to their country to form a national team.

LoL doesn't have any of that. The team represents corporations (wich nobody must feel much attachement to) and there's no competition where the players get grouped by origin or something like that to give the teams any other form of identity.

I lost interest when pro games basically became League of Asia. Nothing against Asia as a continent or the people within but I have nothing to relate to with them and find myself unable to root for anyone anymore.

Season 1 was an amazing time to be a part of a game. After season 2 or 3 ended my enthusiasm for this game turned entirely to me playing it for fun and no longer paying attention to the extra stuff going on.

The solution is very simple. Don't support a team. Support the players instead. The teams aren't bound by location or nationality, which means you're free to actually CHOOSE which team you like based on which one has the players that you like. I like Hauntzer. I like Bjergsen. Ergo, I can support TSM. Alternatively, instead of rooting for the hometown team, you can root for the hometown players. Biofrost is repping Canada and Toronto. Sweet. More fuel for my TSM support. If Hauntzer/Bjergsen/Biofrost were to get transferred to another team tomorrow, then I could support that team instead of TSM, because I'm choosing to invest based on the people playing, not the organization.

This is why i've kinda lost interest in EU and never really had a bond at all with LPL, just no real brand and marketable team aspect to the league. NA does decent at this in the top 4, specially with the shoes like TSM Legends, C9 Genesis, TL Rebirth when it was around, etc. I feel like the EU brands have fallen off even WITH the shows, and LPL never had any identity. LCK has it a bit with ROX and SKT but that's about it...wish it had more.

TSM with Bjerg, C9 has Meteos, and a few more, their challenger still has all the C9 veterans, Hai, Balls, Lemon. CLG with Aphro and Darshans been there a while too. Then new teams with new people. And btw, old Fnatic is basically Origin. Peke, Amazing, soaz. Fnatic still has yellowstar and stuff. I get what you mean but many of the old guard teams still have some of the players widely associated with them. And then there is SKT with Faker.....and still Faker....always Faker...Faker is the identity of SKT.
