Fantasy Scouting Report Week 4
With the conclusion of Week 3, patterns have begun to emerge. Players like Erik "Tabzz" van Helvert and Viktor "Cowtard" Stymne have given us confidence that they can regularly reach or exceed their projected points each week, as they each did so for the third time in a row. Truthfully, Tabzz missed his benchmark this week by .09 points, but who’s counting?
We don’t live for the status quo though, but for the exciting outliers. Here are the players who are soaring above the competition and those who are being trampled down below.
Rising Players
Kerp - Mid, Millenium
Adrian "Kerp" Wetekam seems back on form after last week’s dip in the points. He slightly trailed Jesse "Jesiz" Le, who led EU LCS mid laners, 43.43 to 42.25, but he outshone Jesiz in a different way. Nearly all of Kerp’s 42 points came from one game against Copenhagen Wolves. After a 0/5/0 showing on Fizz, Kerp rebounded with an 11/1/11 Ziggs performance. While Kerp and Millenium still have some inconsistencies to work out, it also means that his Week 1 performance wasn’t exactly a fluke.
Woolite - AD Carry, Copenhagen Wolves
For the second week in a row, Pawel "Woolite" Pruski has overreached his fantasy projection by more than 15 points. As a player in the Challenger Series just last split, predicting how Woolite would fare in the much tougher LCS proved difficult. Week 3 set aside any reservations we had left about him. With 51.80 points, Woolite led all AD Carries in the LCS, and he’s managed this with the Copenhagen Wolves’ 2-6 record. If the team catches traction in the coming weeks, expect his number to shoot even higher.
XiaoWeiXiao and Ackerman - Mid and Top, LMQ
Teammates Yu "XiaoWeiXiao" Xian and Xiao "Ackerman" Wang led the LCS together in fantasy points as they garnered 62.83 and 62.44 points, respectively. LMQ dominated their matches in both the LCS and Fantasy LCS, securing points as well as wins. Anyone with these two star players on their team had a pleasant week and should continue reaping the benefits for weeks to come.
Falling Players
Dyrus - Top Lane, Team SoloMid
For the second week in a row, Marcus "Dyrus" Hill gathered half as many points as predicted, ending Week 3 with a mere 15.94. As Team SoloMid continue to struggle in the LCS, so too does Dyrus in Fantasy LCS. TSM’s loss to LMQ and Dyrus’ 0/6/1 performance had him at roughly zero points after CS was factored in, and the points he did gather came almost entirely in TSM’s comeback win again Curse. TSM as a whole needs to grow more consistent before Dyrus can once again shine in the top lane.
Crumbzz - Jungle, Dignitas
Alberto "Crumbzz" Rengifo plummeted in Fantasy LCS this week, trailing all other junglers with a minuscule 14.14 points. With the combined raw stats of 2/4/7, and only 164 minions across both games, Crumbzz simply didn't see enough action throughout the week even as Dignitas overpowered Evil Geniuses in Day 2.
Curse - Team
Accruing only 12.00 points, Curse trailed every other team in the LCS. While the team lost both of their matches, it was their lack of objectives that truly hurt them. In contrast, ROCCAT, who also went 0-2 this week, still managed to more than double Curse’s score with 27 points, proving teams and players can net fantasy points even when trailing behind in the LCS.
