Why can't we create larger prize pools for LoL esports?

What Dota 2 has been doing is very smart, putting like 20% of a purchase towards the finals... League can make it even 2 percent, I just think that compared to other games League's competitions are not as important and sponsors/personal streaming makes more money... I mean http://www.esportsearnings.com/players ranks that Faker is the highest earning League Player but he's the tope 68 on the list, with almost all of the rest being Dota 2 players.

Yeah and you see those guys like XiaoWeiXiao jeopardizing their careers for measly payouts of $1000 or something. It seems like there just isn't enough money available to the players/teams atm and that hurts the long term prospects.

I read somewhere that the Remilia from RNG (that just got into the LCS) was leaving because LCS doesn't pay enough. I think one of the guys from Team 8 is doing the same thing. If they expect to have professionals playing the game as a sport they need to do something to make it financially viable.

the question is...why is it necessary to earn that much money? I mean, sure it´s a lot of dedication and hard work - but there are billions of people out there sharing that fate and earning a lot less. Just because most sports are incredible overpayed it´s not necessary for esports to join that train.

We can but Riot is greedy.

I is more complicated then that DotA 2 doesn't have a season. And most important of all DotA 2 uses sponsors It is worth mentioning that DotA 2 doesn't spend as much on their tournaments companions give them money for it. So they put the cash in the ending event that they run.

Riot has a season they run all year round is not bad if they ever get sponsors involved with it(not twitch ads the suck). So it would become sustainable income.
