The Brazilian League of Legends team KaBuM e-Sports and the Latin American squad PEX Gaming duked it out at PAX Prime to determine who would claim the final international wildcard spot for the World Finals, and in doing so brought some of the most exciting plays of the day. PEX, which was built on the shoulders of mid laner Uri, started the team without any sponsors, a team house, or a coach. Despite a lack of support staff, they overcame Lyon Gaming in the final of the Latin American regional to secure their spot in the Wild Card tournament at PAX. They may have played from behind for much of the series, but PEX was able to put up a fight and show the fans why they were the best in LATAM. As the underdogs in the Brazilian scene throughout the year, KaBuM had to fight hard to earn their spot in the Wild Card tournament. They came into the Brazilian Regional semifinals as the bottom remaining seed, forced to go up against teams who had brought in competitive Korean players to help bolster their chances at taking victory at the tournament. KaBuM strived to surpass expectations and used teamwork to get a leg up over their opponents, not relying on any single person to be the star of the team. They studied and respected their competition, and it showed throughout their series against PEX.

Game 1 - Gaining Momentum

Despite struggling to retain an early lead, KaBuM managed to turn the tide at the 50 minute mark when Danagorn leapt into the baron pit as Kha’zix and stole the Baron from PEX. From there, the Brazilians methodically pushed into PEX’s base to secure the comeback win.

Game 2 - Not What You'd Expect

Danagorn wasn’t done yet, however. Armed with huge damage and backup from Dans’ critical bind on PEX’s Mantarraya on Ryze, the KaBuM squad took a decisive victory at the Baron pit, setting them on the path to victory.

Game 3 - Total Domination

While the first two games could have eventually swung in PEX's favor, KaBuM had complete control in game three. By 28 minutes the Brazilians were up seven turrets to zero, and with their undeniable lead, on top of a Baron buff, they were easily able to push through top lane for a win.
