2017 NA LCS Spring Split Awards

Riot·3/21/2017, 8:06:41 PM·2 votes·23,848 views

TL;DR: The winners of the 2017 NA LCS Spring Split awards will be announced in April starting with the North American All-LCS Team on April 7.

As the end of the 2017 NA LCS Spring Split is near, we wanted to take the time to share our plans around the upcoming NA LCS awards. At the end of the regular season, we look to honor the NA LCS pros and coaches who demonstrated superior teamwork, mastery, and strategy this split.

Here’s a quick recap of the NA LCS split awards and when you’ll find out who won:

  • NA All-LCS Team: April 7
  • Coach: April 14
  • Rookie: April 14
  • MVP: April 22-23 during NA LCS Spring Finals weekend

When does voting take place?

Voting takes place after the end of the regular season on March 27-April 2 during the week of the Promotion Tournament.

Who votes?

As with last split, the NA LCS awards will be voted on by NA LCS broadcast team, 3rd party media, and pro teams. The full voting panel will be shared after the first award is presented on April 7.

What defines MVP? Who counts as a Rookie?

For more information about the definition of awards and player eligibility, head over to our awards guide from the past split.

Anything changing in the awards process?

This split, we’ll be adding a new rule that NA LCS pros and coaches cannot vote for their own players or staff. The methodology and rules from 2016 Summer Split remain the same.

When will ballots and the full awards panel become available?

After each award is presented, panelist ballots will be released within 24 hours on Lolesports.

All panelists who agreed to participate but fail to submit votes (i.e. leave something blank) will be listed as “declined to vote.” Pros and coaches who vote incorrectly (i.e. vote for their own players) will be listed as “invalid” and those votes will not count toward the total for that category.

What about EU LCS Awards?

EU will be sharing more information about their awards in Week 10 of the EU LCS, so keep an eye on eu.lolesports.com

Who would you vote for? We want to hear your voice.

If you were given a ballot for NA LCS awards, who would you vote for All-LCS Team, Coach, Rookie, and MVP? Leave a comment below or join the discussion on Twitter.

Don’t forget to check back on Friday, April 7 to see if your choices match the winners of the All-LCS Team.

All-LCS Team: Top: Hauntzer (the man just knows how to do his job and stay consistent. nuff said) Jungle: Meteos (not to take away from Inori, but P1 was headed for some inconsistency if not for the Meteos trade, good on P1 to choose Dark Meteos as Inori's sub) Mid: Bjergsen (i am actually torn on this one. Yea sure he is good, but i felt he didn't make the same impact as other mid laners like Ryu and Keane so....idk) ADC: Arrow (it's his to lose, and if he does lose it, i call shenanigans cuz how can the undoubtedly BEST adc in NA not get this?) Support: Biofrost (I would say this because he leads all supports in assists and has stayed relatively consistent. But nods to Smoothie, Aphro, and Olleh as well)

Coach: Fly (P1's whole 180 flip from last summer speaks volumes with how this man has helped changed this team. Not to take away from Parth and Reapered, but this man deserves some serious credit.)

Rookie: Cody Sun (This one is a stretch but after watching IMT play so far this split, I felt Cody Sun had more impact on his team then Contractz on C9 and Akaadian on FOX. Contractz was really showy but didn't impress me, i mean Meteos coming in half way looked hella better tbh. Akaadian was the first blood guy, but thats all. Stunt could be considered here but I felt that yes he meshed with P1 really well right away, there wasn't enough of the season to really grant him this title in my opinion. I think Cody Sun deserves it for how much he has contributed to IMT's successes this split.)

MVP: Either Arrow or Hauntzer (These two guys essentially lead their teams to being great teams. To add on, even though C9 is above P1 in the standings, I think P1 looks stronger and I think they will take that playoff bye from them after this weekend's games, which includes a C9 v P1 game. I think says a lot about Arrow and his team if they do take second place. This very reason is why I think Arrow should get a nod for MVP. However Hauntzer looks like the best player on TSM and since TSM is in first, I think he deserves this title as well. Both players are great and have been playing great all split considering how this split has so much parity in it and everyone seems to be having these up-and-down performances.)

Honestly, Contractz has been quite disappointing, and I don't think he deserves rookie of the split. Stunt on the other hand came into a team after replacing a solid support and meshed perfectly with them, posting high stats and making good plays. Akkadian deserves to be looked at as well, coming and and becoming the best player on echo fox (Besides MAYBE Froggen)

ALL LCS 1

Top: Hauntzer ( Has consistently been a solid player) Jungle: Meteos (Came into the league halfway through, and dominated completely, replacing a star player on P1) Mid: Bjergsen (Of course) ADC: Arrow (No suprises here, the best KDA and amazing play overall) Support: Smoothie (Solid player, great plays and calls)

ALL LCS 2

Top: Impact (Skilled player whose team relies on him heavily to make the plays happen) Jungle: Akkadian (Amazingly talented player in his rookie year) Mid: TIE Jensen/Ryu (Both solid, skilled players who are vital assets to their teams. Jensen has slumped the past few weeks, wheras Ryu has been winning more and more along with the rest of P1) ADC: Sneaky (Amazing ADC and has slumped over the past few weeks, but still posts good scores.) Support: Aphromoo (Amazing shotcaller, the most important part of CLG)

Rookie of the split: Stunt Coach: Reapered

I don't have a twitter so I can't comment on that so I'll just comment here if that's all right?

                                                                    NA 1ST TEAM

Top - IMPACT-CLOUD 9 Pretty much carried Cloud 9 all of last split, playoffs, and Worlds. This year tho at the start he was #1 in top but in the past few weeks has had a few hic-ups but overall I think he's what takes C9 to the great heights.

JNG- CONTRACTZ-CLOUD 9 What a rookie split for this young man, as well as he didn't crumble under the pressure with playing with great teammates as well as he gave C9 so many early advantages for them to coast to easier wins.

MID - BJERGSEN-TEAM SOLOMID What is this his 9th split in the pro scene and I can't think of a single split that he was bad or needed to get benched etc, he's like LeBron James in a sense that his greatness gets overshadowed because we expect a 5.0-2.0-6.0-309+ stat line from him each and every year to the point where it's normal when he gets 5-7 kills in a game.

ADC - ARROW-PHOENIX ONE It's amazing how players in NA still aren't banning away his Ezreal but I suppose when he puts up 41-8-75 type of stat with the champion it's not worth a ban? Best KDA I believe in NA and might be the MVP this split.

SUP - BIOFROST-TEAM SOLOMID Sophomore split and still as good as his rookie split, has also gotten better since his rookie split, leads the league in Assists per game.

.................................................

                                                                            NA 2ND TEAM

TOP - HAUNTZER- TEAM SOLOMID Could easily take 1st team away from Impact.

JNG - DARDOCH-IMMORTALS Brutal but honest Immortals would be straight garbage without a player that isn't hiding under his tower the whole game and can actually be aggressive, with a team of ? players that are either around average their whole career(Pobelter) a player that switches more teams/benched(Flame) and a rookie ADC(Cody) they could have been easily 10th if it wasn't for Dardoch.

MID - JENSEN-CLOUD 9 Good but when he farms for 40 min average games on the side lanes with around 390 cs per game it's kinda like a " duh" you can/SHOULD carry with that type of freedom each game.

ADC - STIXXAY-COUNTER LOGIC GAMING Gets no love like always. Fit right in with CLG right from the start of his rookie split ( NA Champion, +20 Kills at MSI, great Worlds performance) this year had to carry a team that every member was dying like 4 times per game and STILL leads the league in deaths 16 or so and CLG is still top 5 in NA but meh... give it to other players that get carried by their top/jng/mid pretty much carried by their whole team with them doing - less dmg, less kill participation less everything but they get all of the flowers and love not the guy who had to fill the shoes of Doublelift.

SUP - SMOOTHIE-CLOUD 9 Jesus, if this man gets Karma he's the best support in NA. Great shotcaller and very underestimated mind of the game.

......................................................

                                                                                NA 3RD TEAM

TOP SSUMDAY-DIGNITAS At the start of the split it was Ssumday carrying some NA pinkies 24/7 while the rest of his team would be circle jerking doing nothing while the obvious " Dig has a Korean top, CAMP HIM" and yet the other DIG players wouldn't do anything all game during the first half of the split. Now that the other players on DIG are stepping up ( Keane/Xpecial) he can actually " Play League of Legends" - Dyrus

JNG LIRA-TEAM ENVYUS Great engages, great farm for a jungle, does everything to help his team win ( Insert old sinking nasty boat sound - NV 10th place) has to carry Seraph who's never been much of anything for 4 years now, Ninja who dies in lane constantly(not very sneaky.. NINJA), Apollo who hides under his tower 24/7 and has some of the worst positioning from an ADC that I have ever seen, and Hakohuho who can't put a ward down more than once in 40 mins he's the worst support/player when it comes to wards.

MID RYU- PHOENIX ONE Doesn't ever seem to get beat in lane, he doesn't ever seem to just die randomly or in dumb places.

ADC WILDTURTLE-TEAM SOLOMID The last time he was TSM he got roasted, talked smack behind his back, yelled at, kicked, beat, spat on, and kicked because his team was the most passive team in NA HISTORY 2015 Summer Split( the last time Turtle was on TSM) TSM had around 45 min game averages and did nothing, yet he stole objectives constantly for TSM because their dragon focus was garbage( SANTORIN) Dyrus didn't do anything but die, Bjergsen still had his " camp me camp me, give me delicious blue buffs, camp me, give me all farm on the sidelanes, CAMP MEE!!!!!!! Like who the hell can work with that s$it ? This split he's performed better than expected so much so that TSM didn't want D-Lift back to replaced Turtle even tho TSM are constantly in 3 games each series and he yet he keeps on performing.

SUP APHROMOO- COUNTER LOGIC GAMING Pound for pound the best shotcalling Support we have in NA bar none. Some supports have powerhouse Koreans on their team, superstar mids, 4+ year adc's and yet Aphromoo is calling plays for players that are past due/prime, retired once(Xmithie) and 2 players that no'one thought much of ( Stixxay/Huhi).

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - CONTRACTZ - CLOUD 9 COACH OF THE YEAR - REAPERED -CLOUD 9 MVP PLAYER OF THE SPLIT- ARROW-PHOENIX ONE

G2AV3/21/2017, 11:37:39 PM2 votes

I could maybe see giving Contractz Rookie of the split over Akaadian (though Akaadian has to go off or EF lose. I think that realization and pressure are getting to him and that's why EF is falling down now), but Contractz is not the best jungler in NA. I would definitely choose Meteos defintely over him and honestly, maybe even Lira/Dardo/Akaadian. Contractz hasnt really done much the whole split. He finally posted a great game against Immortals in game 2 but was thoroughly outplayed by Dardoch in the other two games. As for Contractz helping C9's early game... What early game? C9 had no early game for at least the first half of the split. A split with carry junglers.... I mean, sure, he doesn't feed, but is that really the qualification now for best jungler of the split?

Here is my list for awards: Top- TSM's Hauntzer (He has been really consistently solid and has stepped up on TSM) Jungle- IMT's Dardoch (I think that although he may have some of the lowest lows of any jungler in the league, when he is even playing remotely mediocrely for his talent he's really good.) Mid- P1's Ryu (Ryu has been showcasing a lot of skill throughout the split without taking large amounts of the team's resources for himself like Jensen, who otherwise would be up here (as well as that Jensen seems to not ever have very good Mid Jungle synergy)) ADC- P1's Arrow (Very obvious choice, he's shown a lot of skill and seems to be communicating really well) Support- C9's Smoothie (Smoothie is a really solid support player with a lot of game knowledge and mechanical skill. He's also been doing really well with shotcalling in games)

Rookie of the Split- I think I'll have to wait and see for this next week, because it seems that Cody Sun has been stepping up a lot while Contractz and Akaadian have slumped from great beginnings. I think it would be as of right now a tie between IMT's Cody Sun and P1's Stunt, since Cody Sun has definitely been stepping up big time and has been a big part of IMT's recent successes, but Stunt came in halfway through the split and hasn't dropped a series yet. Stunt is looking really good but Cody is also stepping up big time, so next week I'll see how my opinion changes Thank you, that's my opinion, peace.

NA ALL LCS Top: TSM Hauntzer; He's shown this split what I think the majority of other top laners have lacked, consistency. Whether they need him on a tank, on a carry, or to absorb top pressure so Sven can focus on other parts of the map, he's done it, and looked good doing it. This is a no brainer.

Jungle: C9 Contractz; This is probably the hardest on the list to choose. While many of the NA junglers this year have had stand out performances, it's more the exception rather than the standard. If you were to base it off of play making ability, you go with Dardoch. If you place of it off consistency (none of them have really had solid consistency this split) you go with Contractz. Place it off of impact a player has on outcomes of his teams games, Akkadian. Tough choice, but in the end you have to go with the choice that gives the team the best chance to win, and that's Contractz.

Mid: TSM Bjergsen; No brainer, not much explanation needed. Throughout the split he's consistently out performed his counter-parts, impossible to ban him out, adapts to meta shift quickly (this is what separates him from Jensen), all around power pick.

ADC: P1 Arrow: No need for debate

Support: C9 Smoothie; Smart player, large champ pool, adapts to meta-shift very well, good vision game, play maker.

All LCS Team 1:

Top: Hauntzer or Impact - Both prolly the best two top laners atm, Impact seems to get camped a bit more, if C9 had a better early jungler (or overall) Impact would prolly of dominated most the split.

Jungle: Meteos or Dardoch - Metoes didn't play much but in most the games he made a solid difference. Dardoch was really the only consistent player on IMT.

Mid: Jensen or Bjergsen - Everyone will argue Bjerg but Jensen did about the same with less overall jungler help and people often camping him. He's a stronger laner then Bjerg and has the 2nd highest KP% out of Mids (Top 5 Overall).

AD: Arrow or Sneaky - Arrow was his teams shining light but Sneaky can do everything his team needs him too with less then most ADCs. Sneaky took over both games agasn't P1 yesterday and I personally think he deserves the Nod but I'll give it to Arrow.

Supp: Smoothie - No question in my mind he was the best Support this split.

All LCS Team 2: Top: Hauntzer/Impact JG: Meteos/Dardoch Mid: Jensen/Bjerg Supp: Ollah

All LCS Team 3:

Top: SSumday JG: Reignover Mid: Hai/Ryu AD: Stix/Altec Supp: Biofrost

Rookie : Ark Coach - Reapered MVP - Arrow (I feel like when the top two teams C9/Tsm have two players each in the running for MVP (Bjeg/Haunt and Jensen/Impact) then the 5th player should prolly get it as he had to do more heavy lifting the the other Four) (Honorable mentions - Dardoch, Froggen, and Hai - All did a lot for the teams they had around them)

Jaccobyi4/6/2017, 11:32:09 PM1 votes

LCS Team: Top: Hauntzer (I would put Impact here, but Hauntzer is more consistent. Impact has more highlight plays and stand out preformances, but Hauntzer just never has a bad game.) Jungle: Meteos (The jungle this split wasn't very competitive and no-one really carried besides Moon in the first half of the split. Meteos is somewhat consistent and carries games on his back) Mid: Jensen (In this split, I think Jensen surpassed Bjergsen. Not exactly because of individual play, but TSM stopped their camp mid every game strat, so Bjergsen didn't look as good this split.) ADC: Arrow (This man is a monster.. he is probably deserves credit for all of P1's succsesses this split. He hard carries his team atleast once every weekend) Support: Smoothie (This is a close battle between Smoothie and Aphro. Aphro is wildly inconsistent this split, not to mention CLG has shotcalling issues, and as far as I understand, Aphro is the main shotcaller. Credit is Olleh aswell, but he only started looking good in the last couple of weeks.)

Coach: Reapered. (Although we don't have as big of an insight on the job of a coach, you have to give massive credit to Repeared for fixing C9's issues without Hai and Lemon. He also was able to seemingly integrate two korean's into the team (Impact's english is crazy good for only living in NA for a couple of years.) Also he is one of the only NA coaches who utilize the "SKT strat" with interchanging players (Faker & Easyhoon, Impact & Ray).

Rookie: Cody Sun (This is SUCH crazy title this split because many rookies were so inconsistent this year. IMT's botlane looked like trash for the first couple of weeks, but turned it around near the end. Contractz looked amazingly good in the first couple of weeks, but failed to deliver during the rest of the split. Overall, I feel like Cody was a hugely instramental player in a lot of IMT's wins, so I guess this goes to him?)

MVP: Arrow (DON'T HATE ME TSM FANS! Hauntzer is a very close #2, but Arrow is just a monster! I feel like TSM could have won a large number of their games with a different top laner, but P1 couldn't have reached this point without Arrow. I think Hauntzer will win MVP though, not because of the famously meme'd "Riot TSM bias" but just because I see the caster's and staff talk up Hauntzer so much.)

EpikFeeder3/22/2017, 5:01:41 AM1 votes

Wow. You picked all the players from the winning teams to make these teams. Its almost like you did nothing at all really....
