TSM - A problem with the Coaching or the Players?

I honestly have read a ton of posts on here. I keep going back to Coaching and strategy as the main issue. Is it? What do you guys think?

There is no way to explain the pick/bans of the last two years. Their early game strategies seem to have to wait to see what the enemy is doing, and try to react to that. Thats a lack of analysis of the enemy team. There is literally an entire season of EU games with Misfits playing games. Meta changes sure change some things, but there are staples, like warding for aggressive tops, warding for passive tops, warding for passive bots and aggressive bots.

Where was the change after seeing what the meta was? Where was the Janna Pick? If you never had your Support playing it, why not? Does Biofrost not have the mechanics to play Janna? Is that a lack of trust in Biofrost or a lack of thought from the Coach?

Can you play aggressive in one setting, and the next setting play safe and passive/reactive? Sure. But to consistently decide to play passive most/all of your games or aggressive most/all of your games, or pick compositions that require different things? Kogmaw/Karma aren't outpushing Xayah Taric.

They already tried Xayah Vs Kogmaw and LOST WITH IT BEFORE. and their coach STILL PICKED IT! When they picked a Top lane that Requires strong support from the rest of the map! I mean come on.

Its tough to watch this team for me now. I've been watching this team since World Championship season 1. I remember watching the creation of TSM/CLG. In our region they always came up with their own strategies and played them. Almost like that amazing Anivia comp from last year with Vayne/Poppy that surprised everyone out of the Turkish team. Sure it was banned after that, but where is THAT innovation? Is that players? Or is that coaching? Is it both?

The players are cocky and don’t take the game seriously. This stems from their ownership with Reginald. Reginald is the ultimate detriment to TSM. I don’t really blame Parth at all. Blaming the coaching for bad play isn’t a decent direction, though I don’t think Parth is great either.

Reginald encourages a toxic and cocky playing environment. Get rid of Reginald first. He needs to sell the team to someone else.

Both I’m the coaches believe that the players are world class so they expect them to do well in lane international. This is untrue; pretty much all the owners did average or were losing to the opponents.

The players should let the coaches know and not let their ego stop them. You don’t always have win lane.

TSMs strategy works in their region because they top the list for nearly every role. Internationally, that’s far from true

Problem with fear (players).

The draft was bad no doubt, but they have input as well. They need to lose, break their perfect record at home, then go into worlds as the challenger/underdog. Then they might actually start playing with nothing to lose. Right now they cling to the same meta, same picks, and just try to not look bad, but clearly trying to not look bad makes them look terrible.

Here's my take

-They copy LCK instead of playing their strengths -They're too passive or too aggressive -They don't take the game as serious as other regions

I think coaches is a big part of it. Parth's pick/ ban especially in the last game screwed up their game. The only good pick was the jungle. The support karma was ok since it's still a sensor support. The adc kog could work with the karma shield and sej as front line. However, there were other adcs available that DL did well in like trist, which is safer. Not sure why they picked ryze for Bjorg when Ori was available at the time. Finally, the jayce pick... It was like Parth was drunk. Why would he chose an aggressive top that needs to snowball when he knew TSM is playing passive the whole tournament, when he knew Sven would just afk farm and cannot out gank a gragas.

From what I understand, the coach is the one who decides the strategy of the game through picks and bans.

So I would blame Parth. I'm not entirely sure so correct me if I'm wrong.

But who is they? Is this the players or the coaches/analysts?

  • Do they copy LCK? Or do they copy their picks? Playing to their strengths has nothing to do with players, but a lot to do with coaching.

  • Mentality in a game is 90% of a game. Passive or Aggressive thinking is brought on by learning WHEN to be passive or aggressive. That can be on both Coaching and Players, but that should be decided LONG before champ select is completed, and they had already setting for a losing early but harder scaling bot lane. You CANNOT PICK A JAYCE FOR THAT COMP AND EXPECT TO WIN.

  • If you your talking about the organization as a whole. I agree completely. The players? I think the players take this shit very seriously. Just ask them about their work schedule. If you don't think thats dedication..... The problem is not theiir work ethic. What do they do WITH That time? THATS where coaching/staff come into play. That's where I feel the organization fails.
