Riot·8/1/2017, 3:59:44 PM·3 votes·21,844 views

Summer is almost over. With Playoffs coming up quick, here’s when you can expect the results of the end of the split awards.

What are the NA LCS Awards?

During the regular season, we look to honor outstanding NA LCS pros and coaches who demonstrated superior teamwork, mastery, and strategy after each split.

What are the award categories? When can I find out who won?

Here’s a recap of the NA LCS awards and when you can find out who won what for Summer:

  • August 16: NA All-LCS Team
  • August 23: Coach of the Split + Rookie of the Split
  • September 2-3 (during Finals weekend): Summer Split MVP

When does voting take place?

Voting takes place after the end of the regular season during the week of the Promotion Tournament.

Who votes?

As with previous splits, the NA LCS awards will be voted on by NA LCS broadcast team, 3rd party media, and pro teams. The full voting panel will be shared after the first award is presented on August 16.

What defines MVP? Who counts as a Rookie?

For more information about the definition of awards and player eligibility, head over to our previous split Awards FAQ.

Anything changing in the awards process?

Nope, the methodology and rules from previous splits are the same for this Summer.

When will ballots and the full awards panel become available?

After each award is presented, panelist ballots will be released within 24 hours on Lolesports.

All panelists who agreed to participate but fail to submit votes (i.e. leave something blank) will be listed as “declined to vote.” Pros and coaches who vote incorrectly (i.e. vote for their own players) will be listed as “invalid” and will not count toward the total.

Who would you vote for? We want to hear your picks.

If you were given a ballot for NA LCS, who would you be voting for All-LCS Team, Coach, Rookie, and MVP? Leave a comment below or share your ballot to join the discussion on Twitter (@lolesports).

Will we see any shake-ups among the Spring Split NA LCS All-Pro Team?

Will Hauntzer and Bjergsen continue their win streak as members of the 1st NA LCS All-Pro Team? Stay tuned to Lolesports to find out who will become part of the All-LCS Team on Wednesday, August 16.

MVP: Jensen

Zyrcadia8/1/2017, 5:50:37 PM4 votes

I guess it's that time of the split again. Here i go >>>>

All-LCS Team: (Top) Ssumday: This guy has def turned it on this split and I felt his influence in the top lane this split is top tier. (Other candidate: IMT's Flame & TSM's Hauntzer) (Jungle) Xmithie: No way is this going to anyone else. I mean we can criticize this guy for his bad smites and weird ults (i.e sej ult 2015), but this split xmithie is the best jg (OC: none tbh) (Mid) Bjergsen: Every split is a toss up btwn him and Jensen, but i think bjerg will still get it. But not surprised if jensen gets it either, he has been carrying C9 this split. (OC: C9's Jensen) (ADC) Cody Sun: This guy's Jhin should be enuff to make ppl think that he is deserving of this spot. Best performing ADC this split. I mean last split i thought he should've been rookie ots. I don't think they'll do him injustice this time.(OC: TSM's Doublelift, DIG's Altec, P1's Arrow) (Support) Olleh/Smoothie: Toss-up, both been really good. Olleh though has been contributing a lot to Cody Sun's performance, if CS wins ADC, then i think Smoothie will get this spot for his all-around performance. (OC: CLG's Aphromoo) Coach of the Split: SSONG (IMT): TBH, why not? IMT was 7th place last split and now they are tied for first looking to get a first-round bye in playoffs. Most improved def. Rookie of the Split: MikeYeung (P1): Cuz he is Mike "Only-Rookie-MikeYeung" Yeung. Summer Split MVP: Jensen (C9) Like i said earlier, though i think Bjerg has been doing better overall, Jensen has been carrying his team and will continue to carry into playoffs. I think Mid LCS spot go to Bjerg and MVP should go to Jensen.

MVP: Bjergsen

Jensen is easily the MVP of the split and it isn't close. He is the solo carry of C9, is winning in every single possible stat by a hefty margin, and continually outplays every other midlane in the laning phase. Anyone who says otherwise is probably a TSM fanboy. Watching people say Bejergson makes no sense. He is unable to compete with Jenson statistically and TSM has a stacked team. They'd be just fine without him. Jenson is the only choice for MVP.

That doesn't necessarily mean he'll win it, of course. Riot Broadcast team is unapologetically and non secretively full of TSM fanboys (a few CLG as well). He's not popular among the players, so he won't get many votes there. Don't get me started on these "3rd Party Media" sites. I don't think Jenson will be able to conquer the hate that surrounds him from players AND the amount of TSM fans out there.

Here is my list of potential MVP winners

  1. Bjergson
  2. Doublelift
  3. Biofrost
  4. Hauntzer
  5. Svenskeren

Be surprised if one of them didn't win.

I'm a massive TSM fanboy and my first instinct is obviously to say Bjergsen (let's be honest TSM hasn't been as hot as they were in 2016 but Soren still held the vital parts together). But honestly, just watching Olleh play is like: honor the effing Bard please. IMT, I hate to say it, is top ranked because they've got mad skills (oh my Pobelter!), but a lot of it is thanks to Olleh. I don't really watch matches apart from TSM's so I can't say much about other team's players teehee.

In no particular order, just who I think are still in contention to win a spot on any All-1-3rd team spots TOP - Darshan, Flame, Ssumday, Hauntzer JNG - Lira, Contractz, Mikeyeung, Svenskeren, Xmithie, Shrimp MID - Nisqy, Pobleter, Bjergsen, Huhi, Jensen ADC - Apollo, Piglet, Doublelift, Sneaky, Cody Sun, Stixxay SUP - Smoothie, APhromoo, Biofrost, Olleh, Hakuho, Xpecial, Adrian

Order of elimination TOP - Hauntzer - Top lane was a surprising more difficult lane to predict All-NA because honestly, most players sucked for the most part this split. I'v never seen more "dumb" plays than I have from Top lane this split, and for Hauntzer I just don't think he should be on any All-NA teams this split in my opinion. Sometimes he's the #1 top and in the next moment he's like Lourlo/Zig and just makes dumb choices that a reasonable player wouldn't do. JNG - MikeYeung - Now, it's no secret without Mike P1 would most likely be total trash but at the same time he's very good but he doesn't really see productive at the same time for his team, doesn't really win, teammates don't really seem to get better with his decisions, and overall he gets a nice KDA but that's about it. MID - Pobleter/Huhi - Both are very similar in the way they both got into the scene, production, were on the same team once and overall have both improved greatly, but if I personally had to choice which should't be on a team it would be Pobelter.
ADC - Doublelift - It's no secret D-Lift is pretty rusty and while he isn't garbage he's still not PimpLift for me yet, half the time he isn't the second option or even the third to carry games for TSM and while this past week he had like 15 or so kills and 1500 CS the previous weeks have been "ok" SUP - Xpecial - The most competitive position this split so far in my mind, has to be the support lane. Any of the names I mentioned before could/can/possibly be on any All-teams. If I had to eliminate someone it has to be Xpecial, sometimes he just makes bone-headed plays/decsicions and while it's not 100% his fault he personally still fails about 40% of those plays that he personally makes himself.

All-NA 3rd Team ( in my opinion - No hate please, thoughts are welcomed tho) TOP - Ssumday - Team Dignitas JNG - Shrimp - Team Dignitas MID - Nisqy - Team Envyus ADC - Stixxay - Counter Logic Gaming SUP - Hakuho - Team Envyus Most of these players are all deserving to be on a team and while some are hard carries for their respective teams, 1 thing stops most of them and that's consistency. Ssumday/Stixxay are great players and while they both can carry, they both have really bad games 30% of the time that really hurts their teams.

All-NA 2nd Team ( in my opinion - No hate please, thoughts are welcomed tho) TOP - Darshan - Counter Logic Gaming JNG - Xmithie -Immortals
MID - Bjergsen - Team Solomid ADC - Apollo - Team Envyus SUP - Biofrost - Team Solomid The more reliable players compared to the 3rd team players. We all know what these players will give us because they've been doing it all split long. Name something for example Apollo doesn't do that the other and honestly the more "lowered this split in previous splits ADC position/players) consistent, productive and overall does his job. #1 in CSper min, on a team that has the longest average game time #1, was around 8th-9th in kills for the most of this split and has been #1 in least deaths as a team, while that doesn't really say much about Apollo as it does about Team NV, we can't forget about 2K17 ADC and for an ADC that doesn't get much attention to be as productive as him but not be a big name is insulting.
For Bjergsen we all know he's the "best player in the western scene bar none" but I have to admit he's pretty much the LeBron James of NA and while he can win MVP/best Mid each split I think a certain player has been passed up long enough, at least this split is concerned. Darshan has been a joy to watch, at times he's been the carry(Coast days, 2016 Spring CLG) and others he's been the tank. This split he's been "The carry" for most of it. While he's not as consistent as say X player he's been overall a joy to watch in again a lane(Top) that makes dumb choices that are so obvious dumb at times.

All-NA 1st Team ( in my opinion - No hate please, thoughts are welcomed tho ) TOP - Flame - Immortals JNG - Lira - Team Envyus MID - Jensen - Cloud 9 ADC - Cody Sun - Immortals SUP - Smoothie - Cloud 9 Now, I know what you are going to say " Xmithie is better than Lira and XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" Yes, Xmithie could possibly win MVP this split with Immortals, but a better Jungler pound for pound I personally don't think so. I know that makes 0 sense but NV without Lira same with X-Mithie with Immortals would be total s$it too, let's not get that twisted!
Cody Sun can also win MVP from X-Mithie too, as he's had one of the best turnaround splits I'v ever seen, or at least in some time. Overall, these are players that can win MVP in my mind and I personally wouldn't have a problem with any of them winning it.
Smoothie winning MVP and becoming the only NA support player to win MVP as a support hasn't been done before since EU's Yellowstar winning it back in 2015 Summer.

Thank you, I know I'm going to get much "toxicity" for MY own opinions, thoughts but meh, Who cares !

Gonna just go down the list of who I think (or rather, who "Should" win the awards):

MVP-Xmithie: Pretty easy one IMO, as he took a team that was out of playoffs to one with an almost certain bye. While many will suggest that he is unanimously MVP, I'd put him and Lira close as if you include all the coaching help/the fact Lira did this for longer, it's somewhat hard to seperate them with lira only falling a bit behind because of NV looking to be around 6th.

Rookie of the Split-MikeYeung: While many will try to suggest that other rookies are "better" than him or try to bring up the win records, what Mike did tends to transcend all of that. P1 was stuck in a giant losing streak, rotating in/out players and looking like they'd replace 2017 spring origen as the worst western team of all time. Although they still remain a terrible team who will probably get relegated alongside TL, Mike not only gave the team hope but like lira from 2017 showed that they have a shot of winning any game on any given day. With the rookie field being incredibly weak consisting of Omar/Nisqy, I'd ultimately take Mike over them as both of the prior teams showed that they don't really need their rookies to win games and run similar playstyles.

Coach of the Split-Cop(Dignitas): Much the same of what I said last split, even though it was randomly given to reapered because hey, teams that perform greater than the sum of their parts don't matter when there are high-quality teams performing at what they should be. Ever since Cop took over coaching duties, the team has not just looked strong when it came to strategies but also with the utilization of subs in said strategies. This split is much the same as last, as every player that they brought in looked to be performing above expectations despite past history suggesting the players were terrible (shrimp going from hyper-agro carry one-trick to a guy who can carry teams on tanks now, Altec going from the "hyper-off meta" spring to looking like a top-3 ADC this split alongside apollo and DL, while Adrian's attitude problem looks to be taken care of for now). Though you can pin some of it on the players, the fact Dignitas can and will probably have a bye in the promotion tournament with players who barring Ssumday were considered inconsistent at times speaks to what Cop has done to this team.

MVP: Bjergsen: everyone says Jensen but just look at his stats vs bjergsen

Rookie: Omargod: mikeyeung is everyones favorite but hes been a no show since rift rivals. Omar is looking decent to good and is on a top team.

Coach: SSONG: took a 7th place team to 1st

Team one Ssumday Xmithie Bjergsen Cody Sun Olleh

Team two Darshan Lira Jensen Doublelift Smoothie

Team three Flame Svenskeren Pobelter/Huhi Apollo/Stixxay Biofrost

I did a statistical analysis and a regular gut check picks. My gut check is: Rookie - MikeYeung MVP - Jensen/Bjergsen in that order (cuz LCS scripted and gonna steal from Jensen rip me and other c9 fanboys) Coach - IMT All LCS Team - 1st/2nd/3rd Ssumday/Hauntzer/Flame Lira/Xmithie/Contractz Jensen/Bjergsen/Huhi or POB Cody/Stixxay/Altec Olleh/Smoothie/Biofrost

My statistical analysis based on statistics regarding each role have Rookie - MikeYeung MVP - Jensen All LCS Team - 1st/2nd/3rd Hauntzer/Ssumday/Darshan Lira/Contractz/Xmithie Jensen/Bjergsen/Huhi Altec/Cody/Stixxay Smoothie/Olleh/Biofrost

Honorable mentions: Flame,Pobelter, Froggen

Funnily enough, MVP order was Jensen/Altec/Cody/Hauntzer/Bjergsen/Froggen/Lira

RepotTheFlowers8/1/2017, 7:24:58 PM1 votes

Top: Flame. He's just been the most outstanding toplaner this. While sumday is close I think flame is just that small little bit ahead. It's hard to pick between them because flame doesn't have to carry every game because anyone on imt can carry where as Sumday is always having to carry but I think flame is just better.

Jungle: lira. While xmithie is doing good I think it has more to do with his team's success and because of his team he can shine more and would definitely be #1 if lira wasn't a god. Lira's pathing, mechanics and game knowledge makes him one of the best players in the na lcs. Apollo has even gone to say that lira is like there coach because of how much he helps the team with their roles as well. Lira is not only carrying his team but also making the team better.

Mid: Jensen. Now Jensen has absolutely been destroying the mid lane at the moment. He has the best stars of all mid laners and has just been carting c9 on his back. And yes he does get a lot of resources and his team does do a lot to get him fed but why wouldn't you if he is going to carry like that. He has really just been a beast this split.

Adc: ?. Probably the hardest choice. In my eyes Cody sun, doublelift, arrow, stixxay, sneaky, and Apollo have all been having good performances with arrow having the highest highs but also more lows. An argument can be made for or against any of them but I would have to lean more towards arrow. I lean more towards arrow because a lot of the others adc's success can go towards their supports where I think a lot of arrows has been just on him.

Support: olleh. This man has been a monster and probably the best player on the number one team. This guy is simply a god without much more to say

DumpMaster3608/6/2017, 10:33:42 PM1 votes

Should consider a Most Improved Player Award like in the NBA. Casters always talk about the improvement of players and maybe that could be acknowledged. Many players have improved their performance in LCS like Smoothie in 2016 Summer or 2017 Spring and Cody Sun during this split.

Reïnhardt8/8/2017, 8:57:25 AM1 votes

All LCS 1st Team: Ssumday (DIG),** LirA** (NV), Bjergsen (TSM), Apollo (NV), Olleh (IMT). Rookie of the Split: Nisqy Consistent mid laner for a playoff team and hasn't seemed to struggle, unlike MikeYeung's inconsistence in recent splits, playing poorly the last half of the season, dropping P1 down into relegation.) Coach of the Split: Coach Ssong (IMT) Split MVP: Jensen (C9) Though I don't think he's the best mid laner, (Bjergsen being a jack of all trades and having the highest Player of the Game totals by quite a large margin) he is obviously a great player with the best KDA in the League. He is arguably more valuable to his team than any other player is to their team, which is why he should win MVP. That's what MVP means, it's not necessarily best player. (other MVP's may be LirA, Ssumday, Olleh, Bjergsen, Aphromoo, Xmithie)

Excena8/14/2017, 5:53:50 AM1 votes

I'm reading a bunch of these comments and your arguments on who the MVP is is kind off unfair. People who are in a position to have these high KDAs obviously gives a better showing with MVP votings. Jensen, for example, has had a great season in everyone's eyes due to his insane statistics. But look at the champions he's played. It's all champs that allow him to have this monster KDA stats. If Bjergsen hadn't played Galio mid for almost the entirety of the split, you guys would start hailing him as MVP of the split. That's why its just too shallow to think of what is the obvious with regards to who really is the MVP of the split. MVP of the split for me goes to Xmithie. If it isn't obvious, a team that was in close contention to relegation last year, tied for first this split and all the change they made was Xmithie and the coach. While some can argue that the players look much better and coach Ssong should also be given as much praise, it's hard not to notice how much IMT had adapted what looks to me as the "CLG playstyle" (incredible macro play and shotcalling) and its hard to overlook to me that Xmithie (former CLG player) did not have anything to do with this newfound identity IMT developed throughout the split. It's just so unfair because junglers and even supports will never get the credit they deserve for being the engine that steers the team to success (maybe that's why there aren't much who are willing to man the back seat in solo queue). And for people who argue that C9 won't be in the position they are in if it weren't for Jensen, need I remind you that this is the same team that went on to finish second last split, their struggle isn't because they are outmanned and Jensen was the only carry, it's probably due to the poor adaptation of meta (which has been C9's bane ever since Hai left the team) and game preparation. And if you're still not convinced and you still think Jensen is stuck playing with tilting players, the same argument can be told about Xmithie. "If Xmithie isn't there, you get an 8-10 team". Same can be said but Xmithie has a stronger case since IMT has a better record IMO.

wow nice job leading the league in kills, kda,kp Jensen but too bad bjersen has two more wins than u so yeah unlucky hehe
