The Hype Scales Back

Okay, Groups was wild but. unfortunately, the unpredictability did not last once things moved to the quarter finals.

Everything that happened was utterly predictable (almost disappointingly so) but nothing could stand against Korea's ability to manufacture e-sports players like they were off a factory line and instead of a blaze of glory the Wildcard magic fizzled out like a wet firecracker.

The fact that every series was practically a one-sided stomp didn't help either.

I'm going to MSG next week for both games. I expect ROX vs SKT1, if both teams are at their best, will be an exciting show.

MAYBE H2K won't get H2Whacked but that seems unlikely (then again, H2K being the only EU team to get out of Groups was about the same level of unlikely) but maybe they can make the games close-ish?

I'm still sure it will be an entertaining time but... I guess I just need to vent my disappointment at not having anything I'm personally invested in to cheer for.

That's the problem with this "Real Life" thing, reality scales better than hype.

It's almost like Bo1 are unpredictable and unstable by their nature while Bo5s are incredibly predictable and stable. Who'd have guessed.

If H2K play at the same level they did this week it will be a fairly close series. Most people (myself included) are giving SSG an advantage but it doesn't look like they're just going to get ran over like C9 did this week. .

I'll take your tickets and watch the best game of the Season 6 between SKT and ROX then watch Samsung beat the shit out of H2K.

Well worth the time and investment, IMHO, watching the actual Finals in Semi-Finals.

I'm expecting one of two things: 1: SKT destroys ROX, SSG destroys H2K, SKT destroys SSG, ;-; 2: SKT/ROX is close/exciting, SSG/H2K is close/exciting, :D

I doubt we'll see an in-between, honestly. I'll be at the 2nd Semifinal (yes, the H2K one, yes, it is the luckiest thing ever), so I hope that match is hype.

H2K's only saving grace is jungle.

SSG Ambition is not great at containing enemy junglers and I feel Jankos has a chance to snowball the lanes if he gets a lead.

If that doesn't happen the lanes will go at best even and SSG will just teamfight their way to victory after the 25 minute mark. SSG has much better objective control which will transition into better teamfight setups.

As for H2K vs SSG the most likely game scenario imo is:

  1. H2K gets an early lead. About 2k-5k by 20 minutes, depending on how well the early plays go.
  2. H2K makes some bad decisions at ~25 minutes which result in SSG catching up.
  3. Slow grind to SSG win at ~35-40 minutes

ROX vs SKT will be the best match at Worlds this year. If anyone likes watching the best in the world then they should watch that series. It will be a lot of really tight and clean plays both in micro and macro play. I look forward to it.

SKT vs SSG will be an OK series but we already know SKT will win that. There's a slight chance ROX could be SKT, but it's unlikely as SKT as a whole has looked far better than anyone so far, including other Korean teams. ROX relies too much on Smeb to carry them. H2K will of course be swept, or maybe take 1 from SSG, but we already know the outcome of that series as well.

SKT vs ROX, get ready for it - it's going to be a grand daddy of a series.
