I've never really cared for the round-robin. Some of these teams are just better at a best of 3/5 setting (TSM,EDG) who are better teams than the teams that got in. Misfits and C9 stand little chance vs their opponents in a best of setting. I love, LOVE, that TSM got stomped out, but they're a better overall team than Misfits, same goes for C9 and EDG, though I like C9. I just think a play in is a perfect round-robin situation, but a legitimate 16 man best of 3, best of 5 semifinals and finals, is a better tournament. Use this year's worlds to establish placements (Korea, China, EU, NA, GPL, LMS, TCL) and make a ranking order, Korea's #1, China's #1, EU's #1... and put the #1 overall team with the #16, so on. You can still even have the four divisions if that works out better.A best of 3/5 from the start just sets the tone for the whole tournament. A best of one is just so meaningless in a highly competitive tournament. That's why no regional finals use them. You want the best teams weeding out the weak while giving equal opportunities for the upset. Regardless the best team at worlds will always win, I just feel that it's not as competitive as it should be. I also prefer finality, not hinged hopes of a solid week two. The constant stop of momentum in the best of ones is a killer for competition. Just look at Gigabyte Marines vs Lonzhu. They had an epic game and lost all their steam for the rest of the matches. I imagine if they had a day in between the loss they would've beat either Fnatic or Immortals or both, even in a best of 3. I could go on, but I think I've made my case.
