As the EU LCS reaches the halfway mark of the summer split, Alliance is making it look effortless as they finish another week up 2-0; their fourth perfect week this split. While SK Gaming sits at No. 2, Millenium, Supa Hot Crew, and Fnatic are only a few wins behind. Teams are all eager to take that next step and shorten the gap between them and Alliance.
Supa Hot Crew - can they reach new heights?
Tied with Fnatic at No. 4 with a record of 7 wins and 7 losses, Supa Hot Crew is sitting in the middle of the pack but their performance this week indicates that they have the potential to end up in the upper half of the bracket. In a close match against Gambit, Supa Hot Crew started out strong but made several key mistakes late game that caused them to fall short of a win. When they play to their strengths, Supa Hot Crew can dictate a match like they did against Fnatic and put up a dominating performance. Sitting only one win behind Millenium, and two wins behind SK Gaming, Supa Hot Crew will have an opportunity to play against both teams next week for an opportunity to dethrone them from the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
ROCCAT - win streak cut short
After going 4-0 in back to back weeks, ROCCAT was brought back down to earth after an incredibly difficult schedule this week against Alliance and SK Gaming. ROCCAT's most obvious strength is their proficiency during laning phase, often a team that not only secures First Blood but also comes out ahead in CS. However, showing the fragility of the team's current mental state, ROCCAT has not been confident going into late game and often give up their early game advantages due to unforced errors. Tied with Gambit for No. 6, Super Week will prove very important for ROCCAT as they attempt to rack up crucial wins to keep them out of the bottom two.
Games of the Week
Day 1: Alliance vs Millenium This match was a highlight reel of remarkable mechanical plays from both mid laners. Froggen's Twisted Fate took control of the early game with a Destiny into bot lane that resulted in a Triple Kill, while Kerp’s Leblanc was brilliant throughout the game. However for all the flashy plays from both teams, the late game was dictated by none other than Tabzz's Caitlyn. Showing how to properly build the Sheriff of Piltover, Tabzz consistently took out Millenium players from outside their reach with his heavy hitting Headshots. Eventually Tabzz reached critical mass with Infinity Edge, Statikk Shiv, Mercurial Scimitar, and Bloodthirster and there was no stopping Alliance from demolishing Millenium's nexus. Day 2: Millenium vs SK Gaming While falling short against the No. 1 team in the EU LCS this week, Millenium put up a much better fight against the No. 2 team, SK Gaming. Utilizing their pick composition very effectively, Millenium frequently caught SK players out of position. CandyPanda's Kog'Maw wandered too close to the frontline on a few occasions and became the recipient of Kottenx's Dragon's Rage as he was kicked SK’s ADC into four other Millenium players. Fredy122 tried with avail to split push top lane but the swift wave clearing from Millenium kept SK on the defensive. Unable to step out of their base because of Kerp's impending Destiny, SK slowly suffocated within their own base until Millenium cracked through SK's defenses after waves of sieging. Day 2: Supa Hot Crew vs Fnatic In their Day 1 match against Gambit, Supa Hot Crew demonstrated a sound early game but they still need to refine their mid and late game decision-making. Against Fnatic, they fared much better. The hard hitting combo of MrRalleZ's Lucian and kaSing's Braum kept Rekkles and YellOwStaR to a surprising zero kills this match. As Impaler's Rengar built pure damage, Mimer's Shyvana went full tank and soaked up the majority of Fnatic's damage output without dying a single time in team-fights. But ultimately what sealed the game for Supa Hot Crew was SELFIE's Yasuo, who consistently found picks with Steel Tempest and decimated Fnatic's carries with Last Breath.Biggest Surprise
