Tech Issues on Play-In Day 3

On the third day of Worlds 2017 Play-In Stage, we experienced  issues related to network connectivity during the matches Young Generation vs. Fnatic and 1907 Fenerbahçe Espor vs. HK Attitude. We wanted to take some time to answer questions regarding the pauses and what we did to ensure the competitive integrity of the games.

It’s important to note that these connectivity problems are not a result of Worlds being held in China.

We experienced network issues which then triggered additional problems in the game client. Unfortunately, the three times that they occurred were sensitive times of the match, meaning players suffered disruptions that majorly impacted the game flow. As a result, we decided to use Chronobreak to rewind the game to a time when neither team would have an unfair advantage.

Because these issues happened in a cascading fashion, we experienced longer pauses, during which we investigated how to resolve the issues without impacting the game.

We‘re working on investigating those issues further and plan on putting in place solutions to help avoid future disruptions in play.

Were these issues related to Hilary's emails in any way?

Legit least explained explanation I've literally ever read. Let's sum it up.

We wanted to take some time to answer some questions. How much time? 43 second. How many questions? 10.

  1. What issues? Network Issues.
  2. What client? Game client.
  3. How many times did they occur? 3.
  4. When did they occur? During sensitive times of a match.
  5. Were disruptions cause in the flow of the game? Yep!
  6. How did we fix? Chronobreak.
  7. Was there an unfair advantage? Naw.
  8. Why longer pauses each time? Cause we're slow at fixing the problem.
  9. Have you fixed the problem? We are investigating it.
  10. Will this problem effect the future gameplay? IF WE CAN FIX IT LOL!!!

Bonus 11th question nobody was asking, but clearly needs clarifying: Whats causing this Disruptions? ...China....oh shit...i mean,, DEFINATELY NOT CHINA..

Was the connectivity brought to us by Acer? If not then I already solved your problem.

watching one of the Vods for fnatic and i was puzzled at how this game could last longer than an hour for either team. The last pause i think was sooooo long, and the guy who wasn't Zirene needed to stop talking. lol

Aren't these matches done on a Local Area Network (LAN), which would mean that riots own router/server/both was shitting the bed?

I feel that one of the game where there was a guy who play Draven and there was a network issue, would have been their win. Turning back cause them a huge disadvantage when the game is almost won. Why would RIOT turn back the game all the way to when it is fair? I don't think that is the right thing to do. I feel that if problems like that arise, there should just be a remake where both team start fresh. Not that anyone would care about my comment.
