For the first time ever you will be able to watch the best collegiate League of Legends teams in the U.S. and Canada battle it out each week following the LCS. With 18 broadcasted matches this season, there’s never been a more exciting time to get involved, cheer on your favorite team, and watch some of the best college players in North America.
Read on to learn more about these changes and how you can watch your favorite college team this year!
What’s the format?
Back in November, over five hundred teams participated in our open qualifier. Now, the top teams in North America, eight from each region, are ready to battle it for their spot in the playoffs.
Each week, teams will play against another school from their region in a best of two. For every game won, teams will earn one point. If a team wins both games in the best of two they’ll earn a bonus point.
The four teams with the most points in each conference will earn their spot in the playoffs in March.
Who’s Competing?

The North had never been a finalist for the title until last year, when they came out of the gates swinging. During 2015’s Championship, Robert Morris University’s team was defeated by the team from University of British Columbia. More contenders have risen this time to take the crown for the North - including teams representing University of Illinois and Michigan State University both of whom went undefeated in the qualifier.

The East Conference has always been the underdog of the college esports scene. Year after year they just don’t seem to go anywhere despite incredibly strong teams. Teams from Boston University and University of Toronto shook up the qualifiers by knocking out some of the favorites like McMaster University’s team (who made it to the quarterfinals last year). Will this finally be the year an eastern college breaks through?

The South has produced some of the finest League players in world, including a large chunk of LCS players like Scarra and KiWiKiD. Teams from Texas A&M and Georgia Tech had amazing performances in the 2015 Championship but couldn’t quite overcome the eventual winners University of British Columbia. Some fresh talent has emerged in the South including teams from Florida State and Vanderbilt University. The South looks primed and ready to take revenge against the West.

The Championship title has never left the West. Previous seasons have been dominated by western teams from University of British Columbia and University of Washington. Though the West has had a stellar streak of top tier teams, the Campus Series is a whole new level of competition. Schools like UCLA and San Jose State have teams that look to be on par, if not better than UBC did in the past. Can UBC retain their crown or will a new contender rise up and take it from them?
How can I watch?
The Campus Series will be broadcast every Saturday directly after the LCS wraps up. Be sure to tune in each week to catch all the action!
