The North American LCS playoffs enter through the backdoor

The North American playoffs are off to a spectacular start. Insane backdoor plays, massive upsets, and, uh, a lot of Nunu. Facing off first, Team SoloMid and Team Dignitas put on a heck of a show. Two separate backdoors, three games going more than 50 minutes, and countless amazing plays from both sides made appearances. In the end, however, TSM showed off why they’re one of the most beloved teams in North America, taking down the hot and cold Dignitas in four games. In the second matchup of the weekend, Team Curse was ready for Counter Logic Gaming. Unlike their quarterfinal opponents, they’d played out the final week of the season without leaving the country, instead choosing to focus on playing at home. Obviously, with their 3-0 victory, the decision worked out in their favor. CLG, on the other hand, looked like a team without a sense of direction. Clearly taking influence from their week-long trip to Korea, they seemed lost at sea when it came to champion select, going after compositions they struggled to figure out how to utilize. As a result, Curse looked to be the more decisive team, forcing their will on CLG and taking all three games off of them with relative ease.

THE THINGS THAT FOLLOW

Despite being fairly hit-or-miss all split, Curse is looking red hot. Typically a team that doesn’t respond terribly well to heavy pressure, they seem to have figured out how to defend themselves against a variety of strategies. Which will help, because they’re facing Cloud9 this Saturday, a team known for their hefty amount of pre-planning. We’re looking at you, LemonNation. Don’t think we don’t know how filled that little notebook is. Meanwhile, TSM is looking stronger than they have in months. However, they’ll have to be ready for LMQ, a team they haven’t won a single game against all split. They’ll have to execute perfectly if they’re going to deal with the hyper aggressive LMQ squad. We’ll have to wait and see if they can carry the momentum from their win over Team Dignitas into their semifinal series. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let’s take a look at some of the best moments of the weekend.

TSM VS DIG GAME 1 - THA CANE

Trick2g must be proud of ZionSpartan. After more than 50 minutes of a brutal back-and-forth Game 1, Dignitas’ top laner and his Nasus decided that he was tired of playing that particular game, and Teleported directly into the TSM base.

TSM VS DIG GAME 2 - PAYBACK TIME

Not to be outdone, TSM laid down a backdoor of their very own in Game 2. It may have taken a few attempts, but the final hits on the Nexus set the stage for TSM to take victories in the next two games, moving on to face LMQ in the semis.

CRS VS CLG GAME 1 - DEFENSE CLAP CLAP

For the first 40 minutes or so, CLG looked to control Game 1 with careful moves and precise rotations. However, they weren’t expecting to be met with Curse’s hearty defense of their mid lane inhibitor turret. This was a turning point.

CRS VS CLG GAME 3 - THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN

After that first game, CLG just couldn’t get their feet back under them. When Curse moved to take their second dragon of the game, they attempted to challenge it. The teamfight that followed was sloppy and disastrous for the struggling squad, and they never quite recovered.

I got my picks on LMQ and Cloud 9 making it to the finals with Curse slightly beating out TSM for the final Worlds spot. TSM didnt look super strong but strong enough to beat a weak Dignatas. Curse on the other hand looks stronger than ever but still had some mistakes that could have snowballed the games even harder.

TSM will be facing an LMQ that not only they havent beaten, but also have no idea what they will be playing. while LMQ has 4 games to go off of. its going to be a rough series for TSM to somehow come out of victorious.

Curse on the other hand look strong but same scenario as TSM, they have 3 games played while Cloud 9 is in the shadows. while Curse does look strong, given Cloud 9's history they dont have the best odd, not only that but the main reason why they beat CLG so hard was cause they won every champion selection, something cloud 9 is famous for. As well as CLG looking completely lost in the comps that they got, Cloud 9 knows how to play and curse wont be as lucky facing them. Curse one of the most emotional teams in the league, so if they get behind they wont be coming back and even if they get ahead, cloud 9 is one of those teams that will not let you get a win without a strong fight.

At the moment i would give the top 3 team in NA to Cloud 9, LMQ, and Curse in that order. but we will have to wait for next weekend to find out for sure.

I am going to call 1st seed C9, 2nd seed LMQ, and 3rd seed CRS for worlds. TSM looked way too sloppy to beat LMQ or Curse. The Curse vs. C9 is probably going to be a really good series; I am giving it to C9 because they have consistency and history on their side, but CRS looked really strong.

this is so stupid how can you all say that crs is so fucking strong now i mean yes they re stronger than ever but they played vs a clg which right now is nothing more than failure all 3 games were so bad quality and curse just destroyed a not powerfull at all clg and now if we talk about tsm and dignitas both teams have gotten so much better since the last tsm shot calling was a lot better with great roaming and incredible wards all over tha map on the other hand dignitas is looking much stronger than clg team and this friday you will understand that all of you

in my opinion we can not say nothing and for tsm vs lmq and for c9 vs curse these guys are pro gamers they know better than all of us and they already said that they dont know how these games will go so i will personaly shut up and wait for this saturday match ups

Curse is Looking really strong right now, but i'd say that C9 is still going to take the series. I dont think TSM are going to be able to defeat LMQ, because i'm pretty sure that LMQ are still the stronger team right now. I think that the Bo5 between Cloud 9 and Curse is going to be a must watch for sure, i'd say Cloud 9 wins 3-1, but in the 3rd place match i think Curse will beat TSM 3-0.

its easy for curse to look so strong when they faced a team that beat themselves...

Curse looked very strong... against a terrible CLG team. I'm going to say LMQ beats TSM, C9 beats Curse and TSM beats Curse for the final spot at worlds. CLG was extremely weak in all three games and I honestly don't think Curse are quite as good as everyone is making them out to be. I guess we'll know in a week.

Needs more Nasus

TSM will beat LMQ for no real reason besides the record that TSM never failed to make to the finals of LCS playoffs, while i think Curse will beat C9 since they had a strong performance and handled sticky situations well like when Quas got caught multiple times and utilized their team to win multiple 4v5s in games, Yes C9 could be strong but that's what everyone thought about CLG before they went on stage so I will go with wat i've seen rather than random expectations
