BO3 has seriously dwindled my LCS viewing

I was very excited when BO3 got announced and Friday evening games introduced and duo streams. I always watch on lolesports.com so I get all the stats and it's seamless (highly recommend using lolesports.com to view using youtube viewer, twitch seems garbage to me).

BUT

As the last season wore on I found myself not watching as much or just watching CLG games. This season started and I'm not lying I've only watch 4 matches without skipping forward for big kill changes.

BO3 CAN be just as quick as a BO2, but a fair number still got to 3. Just knowing that I won't be able to watch all the teams play anymore is also a factor. It's like an enormous amount of hours watching LOL if I want to keep up to date. I've gotten so tired of reddit and memes that I can't look at the subreddit anymore.

I'd like it if Riot did some surveys through email to see if people would rather a BO2 format. I couldn't care less about ties and a winner. I don't want to watch the same two teams for 3 hours, even CLG I can't watch if it goes to 3 games.

Riot also I know you guys have the talent, I think you should start looking into producing a recap show each night. Especially if this is going to start getting broadcast on TV sometime. If I watch my local news for an hour they have a segment where they talk about sports and viewers can see Ok, clg beat tsm (of course) c9 beat envy dig beat fly

and so on, and there could be a highlight reel or if someone had some great plays it could be focused on or something, a little more attention paid to the top few teams.

Make this so I can watch it more casually without dedicating my weekend to it, because so far I've shown to myself that I will not spend even a modicrum of time if it seems so overwhelming.

The reddit event LoL page has a great set-up and links to both full matches as well as highlights for each match. I am a pretty busy person myself so I find that I watch two or three full matches a week and then catch up with highlights for the rest. I watch the highlights to EU and LCK matches as well because I like staying updated on some of the other regions.

Are you trying to watch them live?

I just go loleventvods to catch up if I can't watch the games live.

I feel like your opinion is just a matter of viewer burnout. Simply put, leagues could have stayed in Bo1 and Bo2 formats. But fans and players wanted more and that's what they got, regardless of the format, scheduling, etc. Over the years, competitive play time has only increased. It's up to you as the viewer on whether or not you want to dedicate your time to watching any series you choose.

This inability to watch teams play is strongly evident in NA LCS only, with the dual stream system they have retained from last summer. How do I keep up with it? Dual stream sites: audio on one and alternate between the two to fixate my attention. If I don't feel like doing that, I'll avoid social media and watch the vod later. If casters slip up and spoil from the other stream, I'll still go back and watch because of just being that eager to know how it went.

Yeah. I don't take anyone who memes and thinks they're smart about seriously anymore. Sometimes it has some good data points and details from users I wouldn't think about but I mostly just laugh at how ridiculous things like region bashing are whenever I decide to look.

I'd like it if Riot did some surveys through email to see if people would rather a BO2 format. I couldn't care less about ties and a winner.

Reddit kind of had a survey on that over the summer and opinions were spoken frequently, specifically for the EU LCS (and people often forgot about LMS also having the same thing among major regions). EU players expressed interest in moving up to BO3 and that's what they got as did the LMS. In fact, the only regions still doing Bo2 are the CLS (LAS), LNN (LAN), CBLOL (BR), and TCL (TUR). Only one region does Bo1 (LCL - Cis/Russia). There's just a uniform transformation to best of 3 formats across the world slowly but surely.

Could be worse. Could be watching a 3 game Jin Air series.

I think you should start looking into producing a recap show each night.

EU LCS has Post Game Lobby, which recaps each day and the week overall on the last day. NA LCS has a post week recap (NA LCS Tonight) as well only on the last day which covers the same but in less detail than that of EU (think of it more like Worlds Tonight). I think this opinion is rather picky to wanting more content in which you may just shut down and not watch anyway once the games are over.

Especially if this is going to start getting broadcast on TV sometime.

eSports as a whole is still young in global recognition, so I highly doubt League being able to produce TV broadcast time for probably another year (could be wrong). ELeague's CSGO tournaments and the ESPN broadcasts of Street Fighter 5 at EVO and Capcom Cup were both evident starts to bringing forth broadcast eSports in the Western culture. Of course there's also other networks in countries as well especially during Worlds; need to put a mention to that too.

If I watch my local news for an hour they have a segment where they talk about sports and viewers can see...

Once again, eSports it still not necessarily as globally recognized yet, but it is getting there. I like the idea, but it really needs the proper backers to make it really shine.

there could be a highlight reel or if someone had some great plays it could be focused on or something, a little more attention paid to the top few teams

In League's case, their LoL Esports channel often has highlight videos for some of the more astonishing games/series. Some highlight reels are also produced by the community when capable. The content on a weekly basis can only be but so much. Spitting it all out and overworking the pool of content that could be would just be impossible. Not just for the top teams, but for all teams in the region.

Here's the way I see it and will close out on it. You watch what you want and dedicate your time to what you can. I spent Week 1 watching borderline everything across NA, EU, LCK, LPL, and a bit of LMS. Every single game of every series I watched. What I missed I didn't go spoil myself. I went to an event vod and watched it in its entirety. What I didn't want to invest further time into I just looked for a post game record. It's died down as of late because the new season hype is past. If I miss some content, I'll give myself something you can do and use the vod as good background noise. That's why I think it's just burnout for you; the system isn't what it should be in your opinion. But what's the rush? It's still pretty early in the season.

It depends on your viewing habits.

If you're looking to watch all the games that week, then yea, Best of 3 is terrible for you.

However, if you're looking to only watch one or two teams each week, you've got a better deal since you get more content to watch without it being overbearing.

I'm neutral on this I myself do what you do and skip around, but overall I think it makes the LCS more competitive and brings up each team as they have to be far more competitive and flexible when it's bo3

yea, i also think Bo2 is a lot better for competition itself, as it´s just the thing that some teams are relativly even in power and a 1-1 reflects that a lot better than one team taking it 2-1 because someone had to and they had a slightly better day...so it reflects the competition actually more true to the actual power of the teams than a Bo3 with a forced winner i think.

For really important tournaments that need a winner Bo5 or 7 is surly better to determine the outcome - but for an ongoing league with lots of matches every week i really prefer the Bo2 format a lot.
