With the group stage halfway over, teams looked to make moves in the standings this week -- some having their hopes dashed, and some getting a second chance at extending their season into the playoffs. Midas FIO, Prime Optimus, Xenics Storm and the Jin Air Falcons saw their knockout round dreams all but end, while SK Telecom T1, the reigning world champions, had some hiccups in their weekly performance, but were still good enough to leap into first place of Group A.

Games of the Week

NaJin White Shield vs. Xenics Storm Game 2 After taking a comfortable game one victory against Storm, Game 2 was a marathon and a half. Going for a 5v5 team composition, Storm built a team to fight against Shield's more pick oriented composition, hoping to divide and conquer early and often. Shield was able to get an early lead, getting those important picks with Kha'zix and Lee Sin, but with the engage of Pantheon's and Sivir's ultimate abilities, Storm was able to win a team fight in the middle of the map and take Baron. Shield had to slog through the rest of the game after falling behind, picking fights only when they could get a jump on their opponents and could use their mobility to take down inhibitors in the face of a stronger team-fight composition. Shield won the second game through smart team play and communication to take the 2-0 sweep and a pivotal three points in Group D. SK Telecom T1 K vs. Prime Optimus Game 1 While the first game wasn't up to the standards of a normal SK Telecom T1 K game, it should be recommended off the basis that it shows that even the best teams have off games. SK Telecom T1 got the lead in the early game both games through their dominating lane phase, but Prime kept the gold close with their Jungler, Old B, taking advantage of unusual misplays by the SK Telecom T1 team. While the champions eventually found their footing, Prime Optimus showed potential with a slight scare for the reigning kings of Korea. Samsung Blue vs. KT Rolster Bullets Game 2 After picking up a one-sided victory in Game 1, the IEM World Champions looked round into form after a weak start in Masters and some big questions heading into season. The second game was a much closer affair. The KT Bullets had the lead early, but Samsung Blue pulled back into the game with clutch team fights and key engagements from Spirit on Kha'zix. Taking a Baron and not letting the game get away from them, Blue took hold of the late-game and pushed the Bullets to a 1-1 tie.

Players of the Week

Ggoong Known as one of the hardest working pros in all of Korea, Ggoong has become one of the most fearsome mid laners in the scene today. Taking home two MVP awards in both victories against Xenics Storm, he had one of the most impressive Nidalee games in Champions history in game one. Following his display in game one, he went 7-2-7 on Leblanc and got picks at the right time to lead his team to a 2-0 victory and the three points. Dade Going 3-1 on the week, Samsung Blue's newest player, dade, was one of the big reasons for Blue's big week in Champions. 13-2-24 in his two games against the Jin Air Falcons, dade, a question mark heading into the season on a new team, has been a major factor in all the victories so far Blue. Paragon Coming off the bench for the first time this season, Paragon made good on IM's faith in him. Playing Lucian in both games, he went 17-1-7 in IM #2's two victories against the revolving cast of Xenics Storm.

Disappointments of the Week Jin Air Falcons The Falcons are on the verge of being eliminated before the playoff rounds for the second straight season after going 0-4 with two games left against KT Bullets. For the third straight season they've been a part of one of the biggest blowouts in all of Champions, this season by the hands of Samsung Blue in a one-sided 19-4 loss in Game Two of the otherwise forgettable series. With the Stealths eliminated in the qualifiers by Midas FIO, it might be time for Jin Air to look into making major changes with the Falcons missing out on the final eight once again.
