NA World Qualifiers
So, the NA/EU regions have 3 qualifiers for Worlds: 1. Summer Playoff Champ. 2. Most total points (not including Summer Playoff Champ). and 3. Whoever wins the knockout round at the end. I believe this consists of 4 teams.
In NA, we currently have 7 teams that have points. On the left is the points received after Spring Finals, and on the right is the minimum possible points they can receive after Summer Split (excluding C9, which cannot receive more than the 70 they already have). Basically, I added 20 points to TSM, TIP, Grv, and Dig, since the lowest they can finish is 5th/6th. Ditto with the 40 points to CLG and TL, since they can't do worse than 4th. 90 TSM (110) 50 TL (90) 70 C9 70 30 TIP (50) 10 CLG (50) 10 Grv (30) 0 Dig (20)
So the goal is to figure who's going to finish lowest, cause out of these 7 teams, only 1 will have no shot at all at Worlds after Summer Playoffs. (1 will get the auto-bid, 1 will have the most points, and 4 will be placed into the knockout stage).
Long story short: I'm positive that TSM, TL, and C9 have already moved into the knockout round at the very least. I believe that CLG has already done so as well; as I believe the tie-breaker if 2 teams have the same amount of points, is whoever finished higher in Summer (Scenario: Dig beats TIP, Grv beats TSM, CLG finishes 4th; this leads to TIP and CLG being tied with the lowest amount of points at 50, and CLG wins tiebreaker for finishing higher in Summer).
Also, C9 is certainly in the knockout round, but not any higher, as there are guaranteed to be at least 2 teams above them in points (so even if TSM or TL wins Summer Playoffs, the other is already above C9).
So, this means the only 3 teams that have work left to do, are TIP, Grv, and Dig.
Quick and painless explanation: If TIP beats Dig in the first match of the quarterfinals, Dig is out and all the other teams are just jockeying for position. If Dig wins however... then Gravity must defeat TSM; if Grv loses, they finish with the lowest points and are knocked out. If Grv wins, they are guaranteed to be in the top 6 w/ 50 points (10 from Spring, 40 from at least 4th in Summer, and the tiebreaker over TIP), and the ball is back in Dig's court. So, if Dig and Grv both make it to Semis: Dig needs to finish at least 3rd for 70 points. 4th will only get them 40, and finish behind TIP's 50.
Takes a deep breath ... So, simplest scenario? Sorry Dig fans, but the path for the easiest way to figure things out is for TIP to beat Dig.
