Learning about Worlds

So I don't really know much about any of the popular ranked teams that competed in the LCS. I don't follow any sports or E-sports, and am trying to get into it with LoL. Problem is, I don't know how to learn about the famous or popular players (or teams for that matter) and was hoping someone here could help me out. People seem so knowledgeable and I feel kind of dumb when it's talked about. Help, please? Thanks :D

Other than just watching LCS and just listening to casters such as Phreak, Riv, Jatt (They've been around the longest) and just reading all the articles on lolesports, you can read about specific people and specific teams here or by just talking with other people who watch esports. There are some documentaries about teams and worlds, some of which are done by Riot themselves. Some examples are chase for the cup or the clg documentary, there are lots. Always fun to see someone else get interested in esports.

Pick a team, learn about them, and once you think you know enough about them, move onto another team, and learn about them. Repeat the cycle over and over and soon enough you'll know most of the stuff about worlds.

right now is offseason, so there is not a whole lot going on. But, if you take the time to read the league of legends subreddit everyday, you will be a wizard in esports knowledge in no time.

A great YouTube channel is epicskillshot. Every lcs game (na/eu) is recorded and posted here. Honestly, it just takes time. The more you watch the more you remember names and begin to associate them. Also a year in esports is comparable to 5-10 years in a regular sport. Alot of these players your gonna learn about have played for numerous teams and have a lengthy career already, but like i said, the more time you watch the more you will pick up.
