What's going on with some of the teams?

Some of the current teams are playing a bit off or rather different than what i expected from them. Personally, as nice as it is to see certain teams doing well, i don't think it will last.

C9 I'm not sure what's going on. I feel like most of their problem early game stems from top lane. Ray dies a lot. Impact doesn't do well either. It feels like there is little resources being throw top lane and these guys get ganked early. Meanwhile, Jensen, Sneaky, and Smoothie are very consistent

P1 0 - 6...They are giving Envy a run for the money for having the worst showing in NA lcs so far. It doesn't feel like the team is bad but they can't pull a win

IMT and CLG These two teams seem to be playing out of their minds. I do wonder, will they continue to be this dominated or will TSM and C9 regain their position.

Fly I feel like people just found their niche and now they know how to play against them.

What do you guys think?

Riot had to shake up their script for this split. /s

I too have no idea what's going on with C9, my theory is
MonteCristo is coaching the team and teaching them about "rotations" and failing like he did with CLG.

C9 Early game - C9's early game is actually one of the best in the League as far as objectives goes, but they tend to reach too far in doing so. C9 are constantly either in defending dragons, heralds or getting the objectives while the opposing team laners' are still farming up for late game, in which knowing C9 they're not that fast pace team anymore. Last split C9 were around 1st or 2nd longest in game time and had close to 17 or so Overtime games(40+mins games = OT ). Same thing this year C9 are #1 in game length and are overall the second best at dragons around 15 mins 0.75(2nd best), but the lanes are struggling because of it, they all leave lanes together to get these objectives, adding the fact that Jensen, Sneaky and Smoothie are in the top 13 players with the highest kill participation the other teams with multiple players in the top 13 are P1's with 4 players, TL with 2 and TSM with 2 themselves and we all can agree P1-TSM and C9 are all struggling from their last split.

Split pushing CLG - Darshan, DIG - Ssumday These are top tier teams because the meta is less around 5v5 teamfighting but around split pushing, while teams like TSM/C9 are more " for the team TP players from top etc". Ray may have been freelo to some teams but they dude at least splitpushed while Impact just honestly.... sucks right now. Not even joking but whenever he did that failed Gragas ult at bot tower in whatever game it was he has been going down the drain since, doesn't even look like the same Impact this split.

Overall Not on the same level as say Ryu and Arrow as far as being beaten in lane but Impact has, Jensen look good as far as stats go but he's not looking that great either and Sneaky/Smoothie are having trouble because the meta is shifting away from this be 300 miles away and just have the support poke for 30 mins, they're needing to actually fight, be aggressive and win lane and asking that from Sneaky who's always been ok in lane phase BUT......BUT really great late-game and a good teamfighting player.

Phoenix One Pretty much the new Team Liquid I see; Ryu is just losing lane and Arrow is getting focused hardcore style. The other NA teams have figured out that if you just focus Arrow the other mediocre players around Arrow will fold. They aren't like TSM where a team can just camp Bjergsen and win because TSM still has 2 other carries on the team(more of less).

( Is Xpecial even on DIG anymore ? Sorry, missed like half of the streams on Youtube so didn't find out why he was on P1 now?)

Seems like the team needs a shotcaller in my view- Zig isn't going to do it, too young and not enough EXP around his belt yet, Ryu and Arrow are Koreans and just wouldn't make sense to have 2 out of 5 to be the shotcallers with communication being an issue. P1 looked 10X better with Xpecial - didn't win but Xpecial does bring some type of leadership, winning championship pedigree and EXP.

CLG and IMT are playing great and instead of TSM/C9 to represent NA at RR I wish CLG and Immortals would instead, knowing TSM's history and honestly just tired of seeing TSM and C9.
However, CLG are winning but barely at times and very similar to the last split with a bunch of kills and deaths and not really any strategic focus from previous splits but they're winning and a W is a W. Immortals have to be the #1 team in my view and not because I think IMT will beat CLG but IMT are winning games with in theory an inferior roster compared to CLG. I mean people aren't going to mistake Pobelter from Huhi nor from Stixxay/Aphro from Cody/Olleh.
IMT are very similar and identical to how CLG were a few splits ago, less talent across the board but more team focus.
Whichever team wins this next week will win NA 2017 Summer split in my prediction.

it's actually made NA interesting for once, i mean come on C9/TSM all the time is boring and really not useful for you guys as the teams get complacent.

competition is good.

DIG has been a slow-burner but there starting to show growth signs.

C9. Ray is just far inferior to Impact right now. Like, at his best on his signature picks he could actually match Impact (or be just slightly below) , but in general he is worse and even more monodimensional than Impact right now. So there is no reason why C9 should really give playing time to Ray, unless Impact ask them to do it so avoid burnout or C9 coaching staff see signs of Impact getting fatigued and subbing Ray preemptively. They are just wasting precious scrim time on Ray and losing synergy across what should be their starting line-up. They should always start Impact in game 1, and play Ray at most in game 2 of the easy series

P1. Get Arrow an LCS caliber support. And do it fast before he start to lose confidence and positive attitude turning into Piglet part 2

IMT. They were the team that I predicted to be on the rise, so I'm not surprised in the slightest. They will stay near the top even when the NA powerhouses will bounce back

CLG. They are bit more of a question mark for when the best teams will bounce back because the weak points of Spring are still present and you have to see how Dardoch will react when things won't be so good anymore, but they should still be overall good

FLY. They are just not there mechanically. Wildturtle wasn't enough to stop their slide so they got to make a move to improve their mechanics, Go out and take an import is probably the way they should go (and at this point in the season they should aim for an import that is yet playing in an English speaking league, so likely EU (Satorius is free agent, but there are also other players around, in minor leagues that are good)

Some things.

Stupid auto indent. now i have to insert text here.

  1. C-9 fans blamed it all on Ray. Well now we know it wasn't all Ray. And as good as that baron thievery was, c9 has to be asking themselves how it was allowed to happen. Had they played it right, it wouldn't have. If the playoffs began this week, c-9 would be in some sort of tie breaker to even make it. That's not just one man's doing. They still have time to right the ship.

  2. The meta is changing quite rapidly. This benefits some and hurts others. Still others are adjusting. I think in the end, C9 and TSM will contend.

  3. Cody Sun is improving and improving quickly. Who knows how good he can be. Pobelter played horribly last split for the most part. He's playing back to his level now. Flame seems to be playing with renewed gusto. This week CLG and Dig will go far in telling us whether they're ready to contend big time for the split or just ready to contend for playoffs.

  4. The Dardoch trade for the moment seems to have benefitted both teams.

  5. Sending our 10th place team to rivals is a bummer.

  6. P1 and Flyquest are in disarray. They're not out of it yet but the winning has to start now. As it is they've both dug themselves a hole. Liquid will be lucky not to finish last.

The best lane to gank pre 6 is generally toplane unless there's some really great matchup in another lane to exploit. Abundance of cc, long lanes, no teammate like in bot lane to help escape and ward for you, sometimes very solid damage too means toplane is a lane with high potential to pick up early game advantages. The other reasoning for ganking top early - sure if you snowball bot, you get your adc and support ahead. You gain improved damage, but you still can't easily tower dive and you don't become much tankier to deal with enemy ganks trying to shut you down. Mid is in a similar situation - plus mid has the shortest lane. Combined with the fact most mids have range, this means mid is probably the hardest lane to gank and kill if they are attentive and ward well. Toplane gains the same kill pressure a fed bot or mid does early game; however, they also become much tankier - enabling you to press your advantage more than mid or bot can in the EARLY and mid game. Lvl 6+ if you have hard cc with your ult (lee, vi, ww, grag, etc.) is when you look bot and mid. Taking advantage of your lead top to let them either survive a gank by the enemy jungle and ensure you have numbers advantage mid or bot or... shoving their laner in and roaming or tp'ing to help gank bot or mid.

I would say you are correct about fly - people have figured out their playstyle largely and can better punish fly now than when they first entered the league and teams were figuring them out. I don't expect imt and clg to necessarily end the season 1st and 2nd. I also don't expect them to fall off a ton. As I figured when I heard about the trade of junglers, these two teams now have junglers who offer something their team was missing and their playstyles complement their junglers more than before. The synergy within the team makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts - to use an old cliche. Both should be solid playoff teams with a valid chance to make a run at the finals if something major doesn't happen to make them fall off.

p1 - i still don't know why they threw away their whole team from last summer when they'd started clicking and popping off. Maybe it wasn't their choice and they players wanted to leave or something - I don't know. But they need to stop subbing out their junglers just because they lose a game. The laners need to take more responsibility and own up to their failures and not blame the jungle as much as it appears they do. I can't imagine anyone wanting to jungle for this team if they ditch their latest jungler for someone new - it's like marrying Henry VIII after he's killed his first 5 wives - you're just asking for a bad time. I honestly feel bad for Inori.
