Community Bans - Way to Diversity

It's very simple idea, lets create a system where community can vote for 3 champs per week. This 3 champs are then banned for this week LCS. So we got 3 bans per team and 3 community bans.

The idea behind this is to create more exciting show with larger pool of played champs and involve player base more actively into competitive scene.

P.S. I know that some pro players are best with some champs and system like this can potentially leave them without their favourite picks but i think u cant call yourself the best of the best if you can play only ~2 champs.

I don't think people should vote for that, it could get messy if you make the internet vote. (Ask 4chan)

I think banning the top 3 banned champions from last week is the best. Gives some free bans, and it rotates weekly.

And, I don't think it's a good idea to add more banned champions in competitive play, else they can ban out someone too easily. And that's just sad when it happens. Because I don't think a player should have a bad game because the enemy decided to ban 5 of his best champions. 5 is a lot.

Champion diversity is symptom is of a greater problem.

Excitement/entertainment comes from surprises and unexpectedness.

Even with increased diversity, League would not be any less boring(for me). I have watched since season 2, and I feel like I have seen it all. When UoL Kikis picked TF in IEM, I didn't feel any more excited.

Games in league are mostly one sided, one good/bad gank and it snowballs. This is not the case for any sports out there.

What do we really want to see?

What next? Ban rotation for the best football players so you can see more of the crappy ones? Or would that not be fair to the team? Because that is exactly what you are proposing for LCS; you would be removing the players' choices, and they are doing this as a job and a competition. It would not be fair to take their freedom of choice away, because it would directly affect their gameplay outside of their control and would cause wins/losses that had nothing to do with how skilled they are.

I voted no. Forced diversity isn't really diversity at all.

There are severla problems with this idea.

The champion pool problem, which you mentioned, although it is more subtle than that. There is only so much time in the day that you can practice each champion. You can't (unless you are Looper) play more than a few champion to a high enough standard for competitive play.

The pocket pick problem. If there are enough bans then we will never see a Visicsarci Poppy or a Froggen Anivia.

The community problem. Last time the community voted on what champions would be played we got two Lucians, two Lee Sins and two Thresh's. How's that for diversity?

Random bans maybe?

It would basically end up being extra bans for both teams, because those pros are good with a great deal of champions.

Seriously they could beat the crap out of each other with Urgot and Teemo as their ADC's and it would be just as diverse.
