LoL as an esport baffles me

Because even the announcers recognize that a huge portion of the game just comes down to which champ you picked. I don't want to watch people play an elaborate game of whatever its called when you take turns placing hands on a bat.

you mean like the time Faker takes a Yi mid an Olaf mid or an Irelia mid and stomps (back when his team was in there slump after the first worlds win)

or when he took a syndra with a sub 30% win rate in pro play and turned HIS into a 80%+ win rate and now usually draws bans on Syndra just beacuse of his proficiency?

or when Reckless takes kennan ADC and replicates a high in % even though no other ADC/Team can do it? (yet).

alot more comes down to mechanics, rotations and understanding of when to do what, rarely are games won in champion select right now.

It doesn't just come down to which champ you picked. You're trying to make it like some simplistic thing that means X champ is op so pick X champ and win.

Rather, it comes down to the entire team you pick, and how that comp plays against the enemy team. It then comes down to who makes the plays to get their team in a position to utilize their drafted strategy.

It is not as simple as "oh this team drafted X Y and Z champ they automatically win". If you look at it like that then you probably don't have the understanding to watch ESports in general.

And as for the casters, they are working with the benefit of hindsight. It's so easy to say how great a team did in their draft when things go their way, but honestly, some teams are just straight outplayed. The casters are just like a normal sports broadcaster. They have great knowledge of the game, but they're not always right, they don't always know what they're talking about, and they're working with the benefit of hindsight.

I haven't watched a full game for 2 seasons now. It's just boring lately

That's kind of how all MOBA esports work. Similar to how fighting games are picking your comfortable character, alternate character depending on matchup, or character combination depending on the game. League you can get run into those kind of 9:1 match ups however and have a team back you up. On the other hand, fighting games you choose to do so from your own character specialty and hope to come out on top. While shorter in game length, it does produce the same stagnated game when seen enough times.

Nothing is wrong or baffling to call it an esport. There's plenty of games with that same mood if you're willing to explore

How do you watch any kind of game then, OP?

Because this is equal or even far more severe in most of the physical games/sports.

I don't watch sports in general, as I see all of them as boring most of the time. But I see not much difference between the scale of 'interesting-ness' between League and say, other physical sports. Must of the matches in physical sports are won before the game is even made, this is kinda the same here.

At least in virtual games, different champs get to show their faces and styles of play once in a while. In physical sport 9/10 it's the same thing over and over and over for almost every team and almost every match.

Why complain about league having three S tier junglers when the NFL has three basic plays (Run, Pass, Kick)

The NFL teams and other sports teams usually represent cities. So New York Cheers for New York. It's much easier to get into the local football team because of that than it is to get into say TSM or CLG or Team Liquid.
