@Lyte: questioning report rates and ban rates in light of the recent forg1ven ruling.
So in the past you have come out saying,
about 1.0% of active accounts have received a chat restriction, and less have been escalated to a 14-day or permanent ban.
ok, so that's some indication of how toxic the community is. It gives us some good context and information that we can think about.
I was reading the recent forg1ven competitive ruling.
In the last 30 days, he was reported in over 70% of his games, with 92% of reports received being for verbal abuse, offensive language and negative attitude - this put him in the top 1.5% of toxic players during this time period. After investigating his chat logs we were able to confirm the trend the reports indicated.
So if forg1ven is being punished for being in the highest 1.5% of toxic players then why have only 1% of players been punished? 1/2% of 27 million daily players is a lot of toxic players going unpunished and something about that doesn't settle well for me.
Also If this is the threshold for getting punishments then holy poop is that weak sauce. I would consider 50% report rates (every other game) extreme, but 70% doesn't even scratch the top 1%! I would be curious about the report rate by toxicity percentage (50% report rate is top 5%? top 3%? i don't have a good feel for this) and your thoughts about these statistics and this punishment case in general.
I would also be interested in your thoughts about keeping pros to a higher standard, and why that mindset can't be applied to soloq-ers. There are far more games ruined every day by those people than one pro could ruin in a lifetime.
