Fantasy Scouting Report: Week 6

With the EU LCS travelling to London for Week 5, we can’t say we’re really surprised by the excitement it delivered. And while the Fantasy League stayed put right where it was - on the internet, that is - all that action nevertheless spilled over, bringing a surprise star to the forefront and pushing a fan-favorite to the back of the standings.

Rising Players

Alliance: Wickd, Shook, Froggen, Tabbz, and Nyph (52.72, 51.15, 60.76, 61.70, and 50.93) This week, it would be impossible to pick just one member of Alliance to feature among the Rising Players. In order to save room for some other big names, we’ll just lump Alliance into one big points-ridden pile. Alliance secured the top Fantasy spot for every single position in Week 5. The team itself tied for the top spot with an unlikely candidate in ROCCAT, with both teams accruing 42.00. A major portion of Alliance’s points came from their match against Copenhagen Wolves, which proved to be one of the most exciting LCS matches all week. For Week 5, Alliance were the undisputed kings of both the EU LCS and the Fantasy League. Celaver (51.85 points) While the ROCCAT team stole some of Alliance’s glory by tying for first place, Paweł “Celaver” Koprianiuk played his own individual role to help topple Alliance. With 51.85 points, Celaver held the fourth highest point total among all LCS players, and was the only player in the top six scorers not from Alliance. His points couldn’t have come at a more crucial time for ROCCAT, either, as they helped produce very real results for the team outside of the Fantasy League. Now on a four game win-streak, we’re eager to see if Celaver and ROCCAT’s sudden jolt of success continues.

Doublelift (44.53 points) Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng held the third most points in North America, behind Hai “Hai” Du Lam and teammate Austin “Link” Shin. What makes Doublelift’s performance stand out is the fact that he overshot his projected points for the third week in a row. Doubelift has secured 28.51 more points than expected over the past three weeks, and those who have him on their Fantasy roster will certainly hope that trend continues into Week 6. Doublelift’s performance against LMQ in particular stood out this week, where he finished 10/2/8 and secured the majority of his points. Doublelift impresses against LMQ

Falling Players

Bjergsen (23.37 points) When we called Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg the "Danish Destroyer" at the onset of the Fantasy Season, weeks like this one weren’t at the forefront of our thoughts. With only 23.37 points in Week 5, Bjergsen finished the second lowest of all mid laners, barely surpassing Sebastian "niQ" Robak (23.33) who was competing alongside four substitute players. While Bjergsen can still have great weeks (55 points in Week 4), he hasn’t become the Fantasy points anchor everyone had hoped he would be.

Crumbzz & KiWiKiD(15.03 & 16.25 points) Both Alberto “Crumbzz” Rengifo and Alan “KiWiKiD” Nguyen failed to reach their estimated points for the third time in as many weeks, hurting those who put their faith in Dignitas to deliver in the Fantasy League. Much of their slump can be attributed to the fact that Dignitas have struggled during the same three-week period, only going 3-3. Dignitas will need to work on their consistency and start winning if their players hope to secure more points, living up to the hype and expectations the team created during the first couple weeks of the Summer Split.

Bubbadub (12.09 points) CompLexity may have toppled the heavily favored Dignitas this week, but that didn’t mean much for Royce “Bubbadub” Newcomb’s Fantasy points. Bubbadub has struggled to gather points most of the Summer Split (he ended Week 2 with just a single point to his name), and Week 5 didn’t show much improvement. While compLexity continue to gather strength as they trudge deeper into the season, it could still be a while before their players see much success in the Fantasy League
