Predictions For Summer Split Top 6

ZDrahgonz·5/19/2016, 5:04:16 PM·3 votes·1,730 views

First off I just wanna start off by saying these are MY predictions so you shouldn't be upset if your favorite team is ranked lower on my list. Also this is my predictions with the limited information we know so far.

  1. CLG: Don't think there is much surprise here as CLG has had a tremendous run in the spring split finishing 2nd place after the regular season and winning the spring split crown. Also being the only team that could steal a game from IMT perfect season. The big questions we had coming into the season has been answered "Can Stixxay perform on the lcs stage?" Well as far as we know not only can he perform with the best teams in the NA lcs but also the World! Although, personally there are still questions concerning whether Darshan can still play the Tank top champions and if Huhi can be a consistent factor for CLG. We know Aphromoo is going to be the great shot caller he is, and Stixxay as long as he did what he did at MSI can carry this team.

  2. Team Liquid: Now this one is a little bit of a bold prediction but TL to me looked like the best team after the first half of the spring split. They had 3 rookies in the spring split and you can only expect them to get better as the split goes on. Lourlo may be the weak factor on this team but with the tank top meta still in place he doesnt have to win his lane at all for TL to come up on top. Dardoch i believe has the potential to be a split MVP the way he has progressed, however teams can burn him on his overly aggressive plays. Fenix will still be a consistent farm up mid laner, looking to do damage in the late game. And we all know what Piglet and Matt can do in that bot lane being the most dominant bot lane in the Playoffs. However my biggest concern is the loss to CLG, as we saw TL tilt and get swept by IMT. If TL wants to get the 2nd seed in the summer split they must forget about that loss to CLG or else i could see them drop as low as 6th.

  3. IMT Who would of guessed that the 17-1 IMT were just mere mortals in the playoffs. We can expect this team to adjust to the current meta after the dismal performance in the playoffs, however the biggest question i have on my mind is can Huni play the tank top laners? We can expect WIldturtle and Adrian to continue playing passive in lane and Pobelter to be consistent. But if IMT want to be the dominant team they were last year it all comes down to whether Reignover can out jungle the opposing teams jungler. And tbh i do really believe Reignover will be the king of the jungle this year, however i dont think he will win MVP this year.

  4. TSM Sorry TSM fans but i am just not sold on this team yet to give them a top 3 finish. I question whether Svenskeren can carry from the jungle like he did in the playoffs on a consistent basis during the regular season. Also when will Bjergsen be his old self? Out dueling his opposing mid laner and carrying this team. Hauntzer i expect him to continue winning lane against other top laners in the lcs. I am questioning the ability of Doublelift this split. We saw in the spring split what Doublelift could do without aphromoo and i was not impressed. Now i understand Yellowstar was not the best support for him, however we saw what aphromoo did with Stixxay a rookie and made him become a God at MSI. If Doublelift wants to prove to anyone that aphromoo was not carrying him all these years he was on CLG than this is the split for him to prove it. Also can Doublelift find synergy with another new support this split or will we see TSM barely scrape into the playoffs again.

  5. C9 Alot of people are writing off C9 this year, yes they do not have Hai anymore, yes there is no clear shotcaller for the team anymore but why should there be just 1 shotcaller? We saw how IMT performed with all 5 players giving input in calling the shots so why can't C9 do just the same? Although i have placed C9 in 5th place i do believe they can climb up to the top 3 however i'm just not sure without seeing them play on stage. The NA lcs has been surging with top lane talent this year and C9 just got a massive upgrade this split having Impact on their team. I am not too sure why they would not have Rush play on their lcs team as he is more mechanically sound then Meteos but Meteos may have better team synergy with Bunny and Jensen. I think Jensen has a really good shot at becoming MVP this year and i'm hoping to see him play more Orianna as his Orianna plays were some of the best i've seen earlier last split. There shouldn't be much to worry around the bot lane with Sneaky and Bunny both mechanically gifted. Now this team looks good on paper but im worried about whether the team can mesh well and succeed or will they just fall apart like TSM earlier last split. Also another concern is if everyone is willing to be a shotcaller or will we have just 1 or 2 people doing the main shotcalling for the team, because i cannot see 1 good shotcaller on the team but if they all run ideas through one another i believe they will be more successful.

  6. Apex Gaming The Challenger team that everyone thought would easily grab an lcs spot in the promotion tournament did not impress me at all. However they have gotten an upgrade at the mid and adc role since then with Shiptur and Apollo in the respective roles. It was a hard decision between Apex and NRG as to who would take the last spot for the playoffs. But in the end i thought the Challenger team led by Xpecial would overpower the NRG team which recently acquired Santorin and Quas would claim it. Apex is still learning, i think they may have a rough first half of the split but will slowly get better as the split goes on and claim that last playoff spot.

Nice list man keep up the work I like your thought process and you explaining why you picked certain teams etc. 10 out of 10 Most people would just put a list 1 2 3 4 5 6 and thats it but you Explained reasons why and I like that. Have a Good One !

I agree with much of that, but IMT has already proved that they CAN play the meta (Huni tanks, Reignover carries) in the 3rd place match vs TL, and we really don't know about the certainty of TL, as they are a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Apex looks nice, but not necessarily the best for top 6. Echo Fox, EnVyUS, and NRG could all easily be better, and we still don't know how the TIP situation is going to play out.

So, for me,

  1. IMT
  2. CLG
  3. TSM
  4. TL
  5. C9
  6. NV (EnVyUS)

3-5 all depends on how well TL has improved, how well Biofrost fits in with TSM, and how well C9 can transition without Hai. (Though they do have Impact, which is an improvement over Balls, but have Meteos instead of Rush.)

Maszii5/20/2016, 11:43:42 AM2 votes

I posted this in another thread.

The best team on paper is still TSM. Gonna be interesting to see how Biofrost fits in and if Sven can keep up. Bjerg is still easily the best midlaner in NA (with Jensen being close).

If TL can keep up their second half Sping split run i see them grab second, but they have to keep Lourlo in check he can throw them several games.

Number 3 will be IMT or CLG depending on how good the other teams are at exposing the weaknesses in their lineups (Huni being tiltable, Huhi being straight up bad/exposed and Stixxay not on Cait (where he is significatly less impactfull than on Lucian/Ez + when Aphro does not peel as much).

My number 5 is C9, they have some verterans and on paper the team looks good. But my doubts are whats gonna happen to the shotcalling, can Meteos even play decent again and how good is the botlane synergy.

Number 6 is NRG, will pick up some wins here and there, but wont be good enough to compete for the top spots. Im not sold in Santorins jungling + KiWi supporting. Hyped for Quas being back though!

I think people are counting Echo Fox out too early. When they had their full roster they were competitive in every game. Froggen is still a god and Keith has a lot of carry potential. I don't think they will beat out any of the top 4 teams (CLG, IMT, TSM, and TL) but i think with froggen being with the team a whole season will make a world of difference.

C9 has yet to prove that they can function without Hai. And as history shows being able to play as a team is more important than superior mechanical skill. C9 has a lot of talent, and a lot of potential much like TSM last split. It's mostly a coin flip but I'm going to place my money on a slow start.

IMT is still really good. They play a very clean game when ahead and its pretty hard to get in their head. When they lose most the time they beat themself, with the CLG game being the only exception thus far. Their team work and precision will make them a very hard team to beat, with Adrian's champion pool being their largest weakness. If they don't tilt they are practically immortal.

TL has very defined strengths and weaknesses. Piglet and Dardoc are mechanically amazing, and LocoDoco is a great coach. But Piglet doesn't speak English (as far as i know) and Matt is young and inexperienced. Matt happens to be the shot caller, he does alright but he can't compete with aphro or reignover in that respect. Lorelough can only play tanks and if the meta shifts he's kinda screwed against the likes of huni darshaun and Impact. They are good but their youth is going to hold them back for a while.

TSM even when at their worst are still a playoff team. And i doubt they'll revert back to that state this split. There isn't much else to say but their fate is in their own hands.

NRG could be good. They downgraded at top lane but got stronger in Jungle and Support. I could see them bring on ohq as ADC (formerly TDK) He has amazing positioning and would be a great addition to the team. GBM is still great and they have a lot of potential.

Apex i don't see competing with the rest of NA. They look weak on paper and they won't have much time together before the split starts.

CLG i think is easily the strongest team coming into this split. They got 17 games worth of valuable experience at MSI and proved they could team fight with the best of them. They do get greedy when aggressive plays don't work out, and Darshaun chooses occasionally poor times to engage, and it loses them close games. But the shift to B03 will benefit them more than any team imo. Their pick and ban phase is on another level and can bait you into picking exactly what they want you to. They also have all sorts of pocket picks on huhi and aphro that is just impossible to prep for. Aphro is still the best support NA and a fantastic shot caller, and if Stixxay continues to play at a high level beating them in a BO3 is going to be quite the task.

My predictions 1 CLG 2 IMT 3 TL 4 TSM 5 EF 6 C9/NRG (dependent on NRG's ADC and which team gets it together faster)

I mostly agree with everything except IMT's placement below TL and CLG. Huni can definitely play tank top laners, as he showed against TL in the 3rd place game. Now that the team knows not to get cocky, they can take that TSM loss as a learning experience and win from there.

My list is: 1: IMT 2: TL 3: CLG (They're good, but TL and IMT are really good) 4: NV (EnvyUs, replacements for REN) 5: TSM/C9 (One or the other, depending on their supports) 6: APX

Here is my prediction (not as detailed, sry):

  1. Counter Logic Gaming
  2. Cloud 9
  3. Team Liquid
  4. Team Solomid
  5. Immortals

My opinion is that Immortals will get shit on. They got their whole strat revealed at the end of the spring split. Simpl: Shut Huni and Reignover down: PermaTilt and Huni does dumb shit like Lucian top.

As much as I love TSM, I don't think they will make it this season. They keep shuffling their supports around, if they can't find stability, I doubt they will improve.

TL are looking so good with their roster, with big names like Dardoch in top. I think they got a good shot at this.

i think C9 will impress the most. They acquired Impact, who is overall a beast top laner, world champion and Split MVP.. Meteos, Sneaky and Jensen synergize to well... can't wait to see them play.

And, well, CLG is just going to do as always.

  1. Immortals (Their playoff loss was a blip, a small momentary lapse of judgement)
  2. CLG (Will continue to grow, but not enough to beat Immortals regularly)
  3. Echo Fox (Here's my crazy prediction, Keith and Frogz lead the way to victory in the summer split)
  4. Team Liquid (Forever fourth)
  5. TSM ( a smart pick would be to put em at 3rd, but TSM fans love the salt...)
  6. C9 (Hai will come back just in time to get these guys into the playoffs)

To be honest I think Apex is getting too much credit here while Fox and NRG and FOX aren't getting enough. Not really sure what to expect from NRG to be honest, they may be good they may be horrid, but their individual players appear to be good. We shall see. Fox actually looks pretty strong though. Froggen should not be overlooked as he the kind of player you can dump resources in and get a good return back. If they play around him he can keep up with any of the NA mid laners and probably outperform them most of the time.

I'm a C9 fan and also like TL a lot. I think both of them have a shot at the top three, but at the same time neither one are guaranteed IMO. CLG will almost certainly secure one spot with IMT probably securing the second. I don't think TSM is going to Worlds this year but will probably be top 6. I really think Fox is the team to watch; we will have to see how they do in the Bo3 format.

It's really hard to predict when the meta has changed so much between Spring and Summer. The dynamics for top and mid are completely different now.

  1. Cloud 9 my bois will take it because i believe
  2. CLG due to past success at MSI and their teamwork
  3. IMT because i believe they will regroup after their defeat last split
  4. TL because the curse of 4th place
  5. NRG because i really like GBM and the new lineup
  6. TSM because i hate tsm and i think they are trash :^)

Looking at Apex Gaming, not going to talk too much about their 30 man roster but rotating players over and over will hurt the chemistry with the team.

Apex needs to get something out of Shiphtur and Keane. Shiphtur is a GREAT player and Mid but he doesn't seem to do anything he just farms up and stays mid if Apex want to control the map around Shiphtur thats fine but don't expect him to roam or do much of anything. Keane is the same thing he just isn't on par with Cs and does the same thing as Shiphtur.

Xpecial I don't like his attitude. He has this weenie attitude and its annoying to watch. He loses a game and he frowns for 6 years/in game too. IN lane Xpecail and Apollo will be fine but when its time to make a play.. COVER YOUR EYES because things will get messy. Xpecail is a really bad team fight support and Apollo is the same at his position.

Top Cris meh, move on

The other players and roles are not important.

I agree with most of what you said. A couple of things to consider:

TSM lost YellowStar and picked up Biofrost. No clue how this support will match up compared to YellowStar, but he didn't seem to click with TSM as well as he did with Fnatic anyway. The team has expressed that he jives better with Doublelift's playstyle too.

C9 changed their starting roster due to restrictions on imported players. That's why it seems counterintuittive to replace Rush with Meteos. But they cannot have Impact, Rush, and Jensen playing on the same roster, so this seems to be the best configuration. I think there are also rumors that C9 may just be farming a Challenger spot to just qualify for LCS and then sell. Who knows? Either way, it will be interesting to see them with Impact, because Balls has seemed to be their weak link for a while now.

NRG almost completely changed their roster, and I think they will be much better. I am interested to see Quas and Santorin back in the LCS . I liked GBM last split. He is not afraid to pull out niche picks and his personality is really nice too. I would place them 5/6.

We still do not know who will acquire/what will happen with Impulse's spot, right? Apex took DIG's spot, and EnVyUs took Renegades' spot, but Impulse is still open. Maybe a final team will be formed that will be even better. Crumbz has hinted at having a new job, and there seem to be plenty of players all over the world who are still available.

If I had to choose right now how the regular season will end, I would say:

  1. IMT
  2. CLG
  3. C9
  4. TL
  5. TSM
  6. NRG

But then again, I am a C9 fan XD

I think Curse will win.

UPDATE, apparently Impulse's slot has been bought, but not announced yet. No details on the roster or ownership, but it has been confirmed that they were bought. Who could it be? What will the roster be? [zombie-brand-mindblown]
