Who’s playing?

The six team tournament will feature four LCS squads and two teams from Latin America. Repping the land of apple pie will be North American LCS champions Team SoloMid and runners up Cloud9. Superteam Alliance and newcomers Unicorns of Love will be holding it down for the European side of the LCS. Meanwhile, Brazil’s paiN Gaming will be joined by a to-be-determined second squad from Latin America. Both TSM and Alliance qualified on the back of their first place finishes last LCS split in their respective regions, while Cloud9 and Unicorns of Love were voted in by fans. paiN Gaming qualified by way of a qualifier, taking down International Wild Card tournament victor Kabum Esports.

How is the sixth squad going to be decided?

[UPDATE] Lyon Gaming will be the sixth team at IEM San Jose On Saturday, November 22, four teams will face off in the Latin America Cup 2014. The winner of the two-round, single-elimination tournament will win a spot in San Jose. As it stands, the four teams in the running are: Lyon Gaming, Pineapple Express, Furious Gaming, and Tesla Gaming.

What’s the format?

Because there are only six teams competing, the bracket is fairly simple. Cloud9 will play paiN Gaming in the first round, with the winner going on to face Alliance in the semifinals. Both TSM and Alliance got byes into the semifinals thanks to their LCS championships. Meanwhile, Unicorns of Love and the Latin American champions will face off for the right to take on TSM. The first two rounds will be a Best of 3. Of course, the victors of the semifinals will head to the finals, where they’ll play in a Best of 5 series to determine the IEM San Jose champions.

Any other details we should know?

IEM San Jose will be played on patch 4.20. This will also be the first time the LCS teams will be playing a major tournament on the updated Summoner’s Rift. It’s time to see how the teams adjust to all those jungle changes.

When does it all go down?

The tournament will be taking place from December 6-7. They’ll all be taking place live from San Jose’s SAP Center. If you’re in the area and looking to go, you’re in luck! Tickets are still available. Here’s the full schedule:

December 6:

12-3PM PST: Unicorns of Love vs. L:yon Gaming 3-6PM PST: paiN Gaming vs. Cloud9 6-9PM PST: Team SoloMid vs. Winner of UoL/LG

December 7:

12-3PM PST: Winner of paiN/C9 vs. Alliance 4PM PST: Finals We’ll have every game showing right here on Lolesports.com, starting at noon each day.

They had to keep Kabum out of the tournament so it wouldn't be considered completely one-sided. They did win season 4 worlds after all

It will be fun to see another NA vs EU, The (still) best NA team vs The best EU team. Oh, and also seeing TSM losing to UoL :D

Is that a typo? Isn't it suppose to be TSM and Alliance got the byes into the semifinals?

Wow has anyone taken note to the schedule? ALL or C9 will potentially have to play up to 6 hours on the 7th O.O I would be really impressed if C9 beats both ALL and TSM on the same day...
