An official new chapter in Esports (from my perspective)

So with Dyrus retiring, it really feels like the new E-Sports year is going to be something different, just from a player perspective, and from my own feelings.

Possibly a bit long-winded but, just wanted to toss this out there as someone who has watched LoL for a long while.

When I first joined this game, I didn't play much, but I watched all the tournaments (I learned from watching before I ever made my first account), and so I was attached to the E-Sport side even before the game side oddly enough, as that is rarely the case with most people. I remember watching the old tournaments with the players stuffed in the soundproof boxes, and cheering on the underdog CLG EU with their really long game play, and all of that. I remember how much of a big deal we would all make of Froggen pulling out Anivia, and how he was popular for that back in the day, and how even back then, Regi sort of...drew negative attention lol

even though Dyrus wasn't one of the first, he is still one of the current active (or was until this last game) that had been going strong, with the likes of Saint, Hotshot, Regi, TheOddOne, and all those in the Na scene all moving off to do whatever, and seeing Dyrus finally step down feels like the last of the "old guys" will be gone soon. It hasn't been announced but it is heavily (and likely a known rumor) that Xpecial will be stepping down either before or after this coming split with his replacement already being found (can't remember the guy's name sadly). We are moving into the time with the likes of BunnyFuFu being the next one talked about like Xpecial used to be, with Hai being the big name in shot calling, Faker faker playmaker, all these "new guys" who are becoming the current watchers favs, as they might have missed the older guys back before there was an LCS.

It is fun to see the old guys pass the torch, but as someone who has been around for a while, even if I haven't put much time into playing in ranked or anything, I'm a bit sad to see all the "old guys" move on. Dom is now basically the "old guy" in NA (believe it or not), so hope the next batch of guys can stamp their names and keep this game going for another 5 years or more.
