5 Ban Pro Play and Champion Diversity

I think the new champ select with 5 bans for both teams is pretty great, in theory. The issue is that with the current balance, there are several champs that seem like auto-bans (Leblanc, Camille, Rengar with a number of runner-ups). What this means is that we're still seeing the same few champions in each role game after game since what should be 5 bans realistically turns into only 2 or 3 once the "must-bans" are taken into account. I'm hoping that the next balance patch dials back some power of the "must-bans" so that the new 5 ban system can really shine.

That being said, in one week I've seen an Ivern jungle, Illaoi top, Kennan ADC, and Ziggs ADC so certainly there is room for some fun picks to shine, hoping for more fun season 7!

If anything it destroyed the ADC role. Either you first pick your ADC blind, take it after you know only at most 3 champions, or hope the only viable ADCs left are not banned in the second half. Just look at TSM vs C9 game 1. Sneaky picks Ashe and C9 bans Varus and Jhin, the only other 2 viable utility champions for ADC. I am not saying the new system is bad, but it defiantly hurts the ADC role, which has the most limited champion pool, weakest champions, and is also the role most effected by the opponents picks (which is why they often were picked last).

yap, it adds some strateg to the pick and ban phase which is good, but ultimatly balance is so fucked up that it doesn´t really add much to diversity.

This is literally what people said would happen when so many people were asking for 10 bans to bring out champ diversity. You scrape off the top? Okay, there's more layers. The good news is that the lower layers are much wider than the top layers, but there will never be a time where every champ or maybe even over half the champs will be viable (excluding pocket picks), not only due to the balance, but because it would require an entire overhaul of almost all the champions so champions don't overlap in various areas where they excel.

Can't wait until the one game where everyone troll bans out an entire role like top, bot, or support. Adc's stuck playing something like lulu adc, urgot, or kennen because all others are banned.
