Welcome back to the uLoL Campus Series, where the top collegiate teams battle it out every week for their shot at over $500,000 in scholarships!

This week’s featured match between Georgia Tech and Florida State was a good ol’ fashioned Southern brawl. The games had some interesting picks that shook up the current meta and even jumped back to the meta of days past. So let’s jump right in!

Fat Chance

The first game felt like a throwback to previous seasons with Gragas, an old jungle favorite making a return. Recently, junglers have been favoring more carry-oriented champions like Graves and Kindred, so it was a surprise to see Florida State's iEatPuppys lock in the utility-oriented rabble rouser. Unfortunately, the Gragas pick was a huge reason that Florida State stumbled into a first game loss.

Georgia Tech found the perfect champion to shut down iEatPuppys: Dr. Mundo. Yook’s play on Dr. Mundo were regularly disruptive and forced Gragas to play defensively rather than being proactive and looking to make plays with his explosive ultimate. Once late game rolled around, Yook was an unkillable madman, constantly splitting team fights and forcing Florida State’s poke composition to try and fight toe-to-toe. Spoiler: It didn’t work out for Florida State.

With no opportunities to make plays, Gragas could do nothing but sit back and enjoy his drink en route to a convincing loss.

Who Let the Dog Out?

In the second game, Florida State drafted a more meta oriented team by taking multiple power picks  -- luckily they left Gragas on the bench this time around. As a result they got out to a massive lead and were looking like they were finally going to grab their first victory. The problem was that Georgia Tech's Yook had a different plan.

The pick that Florida State didn’t count on was the infinite scaler himself, Nasus. Yook successfully shifted the outcome of the game, siphoning stack after stack in the top lane. Just like game one, he became an unstoppable frontline nuisance that Florida State didn’t have an answer for -- not even Gangplank’s formidable barrels were enough to blast him down to size. Before too long it was go-time and he began deleting the health bars of the FSU's carries. There simply weren’t enough tools in Florida State’s arsenal to deal with a demigod and his infinite damage potential.

Yook and the rest of Georgia Tech rolled their way to a clean 2-0 victory over the struggling Florida State team.

So, What’s Next?

With this victory, Georgia Tech picked up a valuable three points and started their campaign off with a perfect record. Meanwhile, Florida State has started slow and have dropped all four of their games in the South Conference.

Next week we’ll be heading up north to a Canadian faceoff between the defending champs, University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. You can watch all the action unfold on the Riotgames Twitch channel and be sure to head on over to uLoL’s Website to catch up on everything you might've missed.

Go GT! Big hype for those guys. I do think that the Nasus into GP (or at least generally someone that hyperscales equally) is an interesting pick that I hope some pros pick up.
