Fantasy Love/Hate: Week 7
Twice the games means twice the potential, but also twice the risk. Super Week is upon us and that means roster decisions are more critical than ever before. A bad run of games can ruin a season, while a hot streak can lead to overwhelming victory. Even though the Fantasy LCS landscape looks much more different now than it did in the first Super Week, one fact remains consistent: it's all about the matchups.
For Fantasy LCS Week 7, We Love...
CandyPanda (vs. GMB, ALL, SHC, CW)
SK Gaming's CandyPanda only has one game this week against a team with a better record in Alliance. Although Gambit Gaming and Copenhagen Wolves are playing better as of late, they're still weaker teams compared to SK, which suits CandyPanda just fine. On top of that, Supa Hot Crew, along with GMB and CW, give up the most points to opposing ADC's out of all the EU LCS teams. Everything bodes wells for CandyPanda's Super Week.
Alliance (vs. SHC, SK, CW, FNC)
In a Super Week, teams that have the potential to go 4-0 are a prized commodity; and Alliance face just one team with a winning record this week. While more competitive games tend to lead to more Dragons and Barons, the bottom line is that Alliance have not dropped a game since Day 2 of Week 4. They're riding an incredible win streak, and their schedule gives them a prime opportunity to continue this epic run.
sOAZ (vs. ROC, MIL, GMB, ALL)
Even though Fnatic has a dangerous schedule this week, sOAZ's owners should expect a lot from him. Matches against Millenium and Alliance may be long, drawn out battles (both teams are averaging around 40 minute games). And with sOAZ and crew are still feeling the sting of their base race with Alliance, they'll likely play this week's showdown methodically, allowing more opportunities for skirmishes and team-fights. Finally, a with a match against the perpetually struggling ROCCAT, sOAZ has a game that is a perfect opportunity for him to unveil a new champion, or steal away Xaxus' Jax, and farm champions in the late game instead of minions.
But We Hate...
Quas (vs. TSM, LMQ, C9, CLG)
Quas' owners will be riding the high off his incredible backdoor victory over compLexity, but this week will be a harsh slap in the face for anyone who leaves Quas in their starting lineup. Curse doesn't have a single match this week against a team with a worse record them themselves. And with his impressive win against compLexity, Quas will likely be denied Jax in any of his games. If Kayle is also taken away, he'll be left with nothing to transition Curse into the late game against four teams with devastating early game potential (all but C9 finish off their wins in about 35 minutes).
LemonNation (vs. LMQ, CLG, CRS, DIG)
To say LemonNation has struggled this season would be an understatement. While each of Cloud9's players have had a disappointing fantasy year, LemonNation hasn't broken past 30 points since Week 2. This time, LemonNation and Cloud9 face the three teams ahead of them in the standings. Even their match against Curse could be a tough game for them. Owners can expect an average performance from their support, but there is a very real risk of LemonNation suffering for most of this week.
Krepo (vs. DIG, COL, TSM, LMQ)
Altec has been a breath of fresh air for Evil Geniuses. His penta kill last week was flashy and Krepo certainly enjoyed the assists it brought. However, despite his outstanding performance, this week screams danger for any fans hoping to score double-digit points in each game from the EG Support. Matches against two first place teams and a resurgent TSM could leave him in a tough spot. While Krepo and company could easily go winless in Super Week, the real danger is the speed in which they could lose their games. All four of EG's opponents are teams who know how to quickly close out games while ahead. (COL's win times are in the top 3 in the LCS)
