Sacrificing Everything for Esports
I was jumping off of League the other day to hang out with my girlfriend when a friend of mine jokingly sent me the "You think you're better than me, you're not" DoubleLift video in which he says, about 4 minutes in, that having a girlfriend and being a competitive player is pretty much impossible - he says this because of the incredibly demanding schedule of 14-16 hours of playing a day, 6+ days a week that pro players have.
Despite being funny, I actually found this video kind of troubling. Is it really the case with Esports that aspiring players and professional players have to sacrifice all else in order to compete? And is this a possibility just with Esports and not other, physical sports, because Esports don't have the physically limiting factors that others do? It's possible to play this much League, but not to strength train, for instance.
Anyways, Rob "Leonyx" Lee of SK Gaming came by to join me on the SnackieCakes podcast to clear this up, get me more excited about Esports than I've ever been (star power!?), talk about the SpectateFaker issue, and give me some tips on getting past Platinum and into Diamond. Check out the link, find us on Itunes, and please share your thoughts below (on the cast or just the topic I've brought up above).
