Modify Group-Stage Rules

If two teams have the same score at the end of groups (for example: TSM & RNG both at 3-3), they should ALWAYS have a tie-breaker, regardless of who they lost to during groups. I mean, yes TSM lost to RNG 2 times, but RNG also lost to SPLYCE & TSM beat Samsung 1x. How can you kick one team out of the tournament who has an equal record without a tie breaker?

I'm not just saying this as a disappointed TSM fan. I still think this would be more fair even if my favorite team were RNG.

Besides, having flown to San Francisco, it'd be nice to see one extra game! :)

Thumbs up if you agree.

Thanks for listening Riot.

Rofl I knew the topic of the body as soon as I saw the title. TSM lost get over it.

I agree with this to be honest.

As rotten as it would feel to be knocked out by a team that you won two games of three against, failing to show up in games you were supposed to win should not come with no punishment.

For example, if IMAY had taken a game off of SKT, they should have had a right to face C9 in a tiebreaker. It's not their fault that FW only went 1-1 with C9 rather than 2-0, thus making C9 the guy tied at 3-3 instead of FW at 3-3 (which would have resulted in an IMay advance under current rules).

It doesn't matter who beats who. Failing to win a game you should have won (or winning a game you shouldn't have won) should still have impact.

The way it was, RNGs game against Splyce had NO MEANING because they knew their game against TSM would be winner takes all regardless. Likewise, C9 knew their game against FW would likely have no meaning, since as long as SKT won all their games C9 only needed to beat IMay to secure a spot (after seeing IMay beat FW, if FW beat IMay in the first game then C9 would have only had to beat FW and their game against IMay doesn't matter).

It seems silly that some teams get auto-knocked-out with 3-3 while others auto-qualify. Every game should have meaning.

No, it makes sense how the rules are set now

TSM took 2 games from splyce and one from SSG. They lost to all major teams

I can't find anywhere in the rules that losing to Splyce means anything more than a 1 in the loss category. What the hell does losing to a different random team in your group mean when trying to figure out a tiebreaker? TSM lost twice to RNG, the same team they are tied against.

This is how you sound. RNG may have beat TSM twice, but RNG never won a single game against RNG either so its equal

Gotta disagree.

To give the edge to a team just because they won the third game when the opposing team beat them twice already is a pretty shitty way to determine who advances. With no group bracket context, you're letting a team advanced with a 1-2 record over the opposing team. That's just not right nor does it make any sense.

If one team 2-0's another team, they should have the competitive edge over them.
