The last chapter of the European Summer 1 Challenger Series was played in front of a huge crowd at the SSE Arena, Wembley before the EU LCS started today. It featured H2K Gaming sweeping the Ninjas in Pyjamas to claim first place in EU Summer 1 Challenger Series. Meanwhile, outside of Wembley, Gamers2 took down Lublin Shore to claim third place in the tournament.
Games of the Week
Ninjas in Pyjamas vs H2K Gaming - Game 2
The deciding game for H2K Gaming was a continuation of momentum from game 1. Utilizing strong objective control, H2K opened up an early lead, but NiP made it interesting by scoring a kill and gobbling up an objective of their own. Unfortunately, NiP’s actions never made much of a dent in the H2K lead, and a kill on NiP’s Exileh resulted in a Baron for H2K, as well as additional kills. The lead was too large for the Ninjas in Pyjamas to overcome at this point, and they folded shortly thereafter.
Gamers2 vs Lublin Shore - Game 2
While Lublin Shore would ultimately lose the series 2-1, the skills that got the team into the final four were on display in this match. Game two was easily the closest of the three games between the teams and it featured Gamers2 grabbing an advantage, but never quite being able to capitalize on it. Through crucial teamfight wins and subsequently securing objectives, Lublin Shore battled back over the course of the fifty minute game. The Command: Shockwave from Takefun’s Orianna into Last Breath from Kubon’s Yasuo was not only beautiful to watch because it resulted in numerous two and three man hits, but frequently provided instant kills for Lublin Shore throughout the game.
Top Performers of the week
Carlos “ocelote” Rodrigeuz Santiago

Ocelote, the team captain of Gamers2, was also their most consistent player in their series against Lublin Shore. He was a force on Syndra and Ziggs in their wins, particularly in teamfights. He got so far ahead on Ziggs that the champion turned into a true area-of-effect burst machine the likes of which are rarely seen. Even in the game 2 loss, ocelote played a good Nidalee. The combined poke from ocelote’s Javelin Tosses and the Glitterlances from Jwaow’s Lulu that kept the team in that game until the very end.
Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten

Febiven was the rock for H2K Gaming during game 1 of their series against the Ninjas in Pyjamas in the middle lane. He piloted LeBlanc to an 11/2/14 KDA in the game, and was crucial in continually stopping what NiP was trying to do. The Ninjas wanted to empower Exileh’s Last Breath through multiple knockups while Freeze stacked Twitch’s Rata-tat-tat on top of the snarl of enemy champions. It didn’t fire off since Febiven was able to find kills in an eyeblink. Once one of the Ninjas was down, the combination fell short and H2K was able to clean up.
Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu
H2K’s top laner was presented with a golden opportunity due to the Ninjas in Pyjamas having to play a substitute top laner. He took complete advantage of that opportunity, particularly in game 2 of the series. The Lulu that he played in game 2 was the embodiment of clutch. Whenever NiP thought they had a successful pick, a Wild Growth plus Help, Pix! came in to save an H2K champion in peril. He fulfilled a different role in game 1 with a split-pushing Jax. NiP let Jax get monstrous and Odoamne leveraged that into an unstoppable crusher. Odoamne’s Jax couldn’t be stopped 1-on-1, and his numerous Counterstrikes sealed the win for H2K.
Whats Next?
The European Challenger Summer Series 2 is the next big Challenger tournament. The ladder locks in the very near future and Lublin Shore will have to do a significant amount of grinding to get back into the tournament. The other three teams have earned automatic berths into the brackets as a result of their top three finish.
