Top ten mids currently (OPINION)
- TES Knight9 I'm not too sure about this ranking, but domestically Knight has been a monster. He's basically the reason that Top ESports is 2nd in LPL, hard carrying his team (he does have help - LoKeN is a decent AD carry and Xx is his jungler - enablor). When Knight9 gets a lead, he absolutely smashes games. Definitely one of the best mechanical players out there. Has an insanely large champ pool, but his best are Zoe, Irelia, Corki and Jayce.
- FPX Doinb The most interesting mid player out there. For those people that think Caps can play anything on G2 ... Doinb can play literally everything and anything. Doinb is most known for shoving in his wave and then pressuring sidelanes (mostly bot). He's famous for his Pantheon, Ryze, and Nautilus mid (yes, that's right). On those 3 champs, he can push in mid, and on Ryze/Panth he ults bot with his jungler Tian and dives the shit out of the enemy bot laners. He's the backbone of FPX, their shotcaller, and FPX's entire identity.
- DWG Showmaker Probably the best mid in Korea at the moment, Showmaker is one of DWG's 4(!) playmakers. As per his name, any game with him is bound to be an entertaining show with highlight level plays. He excels with Corki and played it before the Corki-Azir meta even became a thing, one of the only players to play Camille mid, and is really, really good with Akali. He can even play as DWG's support when BerYL decides to play an engage champion. He's an initiator first and foremost, diving into fights and causing chaos. He's one of the reasons why DWG is one of the most fun teams to watch in Korea atm, and is one of the progenitors for LCK's new era.
- G2 Caps Caps, on his best days, looks really good, and it seems that he can just pull out whatever champion and play it to its full potential. On his worst days, he is affectionately(?) nicknamed Craps, and makes mistakes that make viewers go ??? (such as being out of position, riding a Corki package into 4 enemy team members, being late for rotations, etc). His highs are insanely high, however, and with G2's recent form, Caps looks unstoppable.
- SKT Faker The Demon king hasn't fallen yet. SKT looked extremely shaky to start LCK Summer after their disappointing 2-3 loss to eventual MSI champions G2, but Faker/Clid, along with new support Effort, have swung things back for SKT. Faker is still a menace with an insane champ pool, recently pulling out Renekton and Qiyana against the Afreeca Freecs. He's always been at his best on playmaking champions with high burst, like Leblanc, Azir, Lissandra, Ryze, Orianna and recently Neeko and Qiyana. While he does have his moments of inconsistency (see - beginning of both LCK Spring and Summer 2019), Faker is one of those e-sports veterans that just seems to have an ON-switch when it comes to big matches, like playoffs and worlds.
- RNG Xiaohu Xiaohu is the other half of RNG's great jg/mid duo that's been shining for them throughot this split. RNG still remains a bot-focused team with Uzi/Ming but honestly, I think Xiaohu and Karsa have been the real stars for RNG. Xiaohu plays a very flexible style, fitting in wherever RNG needs him to - if they want to go late and protect Uzi, they put Xiaohu on Karma. If RNG wants good teamfighting? Rumble and Neeko. Put Xiaohu on playmakers? Akali and Taliyah are there. Need Xiaohu to win lane? Jayce. He's a jack of all trades and he's ever so useful for RNG.
- GRF Chovy Chovy, after remarkable 2018 summer and 2019 spring splits, seems to have fallen off a bit this split. He's still gaining advantages in lane, but he seems a bit more passive to the Chovy of old(?). Nevertheless, Chovy still remains a monster with insane prowess on skirmishing assassins, like Akali, Irelia, Aatrox to go along with his Zoe, and still wows us with flashy plays from his wide champion pool (only Caps/Doinb have played more champs than him, to the best of my memory)
- FNC Nemesis Not sure whether to put Nemesis as a mid or a bot laner (I'm kidding), but this is a testament to his versatility and greatness. He has a really, really good Twisted Fate and Corki, has really good global map presence, and is able to deal tons of damage in fights, which is a reason that Rekkles is able to play Karma in the botlane without too many repercussions. One of the most promising rookies/young mids in the LEC, for sure. SIdenote - he may be the next Perkz :P
- BLG Kuro Bilibili Gaming is basically an LCK team playing in the LPL. Gone is the Bilibili gaming of old with its traditional LPL style aggression and teamfighting. Welcome to the new BLG, with good vision/warding, steady pace and a whole lot of counterpunching. Kuro is the focus of the new BLG, as he never really dominates lane like most other LPL mids look to do. Instead, he provides a steady lane presence that never really loses his lane, providing an easier transition to the mid and late game where BLG (and Kuro) can really shine. Kuro has an absolutely disgusting Azir, and paired with his more supportive Karma, provides the rock that BLG is built on.
- EDG Scout For all the flack that EDG is getting (inconsistent team, looks like the worst seed in LPL playoffs, playoffs/worlds chokers), they still remain one of the top teams in the LPL, bolstered by their strong topside, which is spearheaded by Scout. Scout still remains dominant on lane bullies (Jayce) and playmaking burst mages/assassins (Leblanc, Akali, Zoe) but has weaknesses on more skirmish heavy champs (Irelia/Aatrox)
