What are the standards for moderation?

I'm interested in what the standards for moderation are. 3 of my messages from yesterday just got deleted by a moderator. I'm not gonna quote them, because who knows if they'd just get this message deleted even if they are completely out of context but here is what they were:

1, A sincere point I made that used an analogy that involved 2 hypothetical people having a hypothetical conversation about Nazi policy in the historical context. The analogy unambiguously was to compare the nature of this hypothetical conversation to the debating behavior of the person I was talking to and not the magnitude of wrongfulness of anything to that of death camps. This message contained no insults, no disrecpect and no personal attacks of any kind.

2, A jokular way to express my disapproval of another person's attitude they expressed in the message I responded to. This message contained no insults, no disrespect and no personal attacks of any kind.

3, I moderately smarmy and superior message that contained a reasonable response to some nonsense the same person I was talking to in the second message sent me. Yeah, the smarmy stuff was meant to be slightly disrespectful, at a tongue and cheek level here, but it's not even comparable to the following lovely messages I got in the same time period, directly calling me dumb, that at this moment are still up:

> At this point, I'm done with this discussion. Be dense by yourself. 100% deserved. . > Yeah. Not building life steal on Nasus is troll. You have room temperature IQ if you think that is trolling.

The context for the second one is the most interesting: it references a point that I have never made about Nasus and lifesteal. My 3rd moderated message was an answer to this guy's response to me pointing that out, his response being basically doubling down.

Now let's look at the frequency of how often I get a moderator response. The first one was a long time ago when the moderator necroed a thread I was posting in. Fine. The second wave of 3 actions came about 2 weeks ago in the period of a few days, after I had a discussion with a moderator about the respect the rules demand everybody give everybody else all the time and I purposefully went a little overboard in a few other conversation after concluding that discussion. These made sense too. Then there was this, all happening from last night to tonight, most of them nonsensically, apparently laser focused on me. Oh, and did I forget to mention, this was right during my not so friendly discussion with a former moderator.

So either the standards of what gets moderated are out of whack and a moderator just happened to come across specifically my messages, not even other people's, in the same threads while having a bad day or the former mod called over his bud to harrass me a little. Honestly, I hope it's the latter because as deplorable as that would be, at least it would make some sense.

I feel it's a little disingenuous to say the analogy was "unambiguous" when the problem wasn't in grokking your intent. The moderation action clearly stated "Find a better metaphor than Nazi death camps, as their use is simply too inflammatory." By way of clarification, the fact that your hypothetical conversation centered around two people deciding death camps were an okay thing made it worse.

This content was simply removed without warning or punishment.

I'm not certain how the following counts as "no disrespect":

Well, my darling, vanilla scented, pink poodlecub, let's look at the history of this conversation:

You wrote "it's fucking aram". I responded to that, disapproving of that attitude. Then your response was about how I said something about lifesteal on Nasus. Honey, either you need a full night of sleep to sober up or you have a serious problem with your communication.

That's a whole lot of snide derision.

Again, this action was not accompanied by a warning or suspension. It was intended as a reminder to use the boards properly and respectfully.

it's not even comparable to the following lovely messages I got in the same time period, directly calling me dumb, that at this moment are still up:

That was part of a quote I missed. It has been edited to reflect. Obviously, the thing you quoted was deleted.

I don't know what conflict you're talking about. I took the week off for the holiday, but woke up at my usual hour. I checked the queues, noticed a backlog, got myself some coffee and emptied them out. There wasn't any more "focus" on you than there was on anyone else in the queue. The person you were bickering with had their content removed for exactly the same reason.

If you still feel you're being treated unfairly, by all means head over to the Discord.

What are the standards for moderation?

Subjective.

They were given moderation power, because they agreed with the standards being proposed to be a moderator. A position was offered of a particular description. So people who agreed with the degree of subjectivity of the moderation agreed to be given power to enforce it.
