Voting only when commenting for "discussion" threads?
Before you downvote this to oblivion, hear me out AKA read the whole argument please:
People have this habit of ridiculing discussion worthy threads or downvoting them without any basis or counterargument towards them. The post gets downvoted so nobody sees it, yet it opens a good discussion. People don't see discussion anymore. All people want is the post that is meta - that goes with the buffs they want to climb.
I believe there could be a "discussion-heavy" option for players. Rioters moderating could remove posts abusing the option. Or it could be implemented as the primary voting method.
So where is some of the evidence I can show to showcase why this method is necessary?
Here's an example:
Take the Mage Dilemma as an example. Right now, votes are skyrocketing on threads or posts that ask for absurd nerfs on ADCs or marskmen. (Seriously, why would you remove crit?) People state mages aren't getting enough item variety. And this is true but...
That has been a for the past season. I clearly remember seeing threads getting downvoted every time it was bought up and nobody trying to continue discussions even on the posts meta players had that were gaining the upvotes. (Remember, we also had an issue with "favoritism" on the boards one time)
People are now complaining and upvoting, not because ADCs have more itemization. But the changes to the crit items make them more important than mages. Now, mage players want changes that buff them and make them stronger to ADCs. Basically, people are band-wagoning to get their champion buffed.
If people didn't downvote those threads with such good AP itemization suggestions, or notifications AP champs were starting to lack - the issues COULD have been avoided right now.
Oh - and it's not just mages. You can apply this "downvote but complain about it 20 years later" trend to several gameplay discussions.
This is why I can't take Gameplay seriously. Yes, opinions are valued but the amount of contradictions introduced are amazing. It's more, "X champion tilts me" and here's my vote based on that emotion.
Those are the discussions going on now.
