Low - Quality Posts Need To Be Made Clear

After I was suspended for a week after I was warned and continued to make low-quality posts, I have finally returned to voice my opinion on necessary changes, regarding one rule.

Unlike the blatant use of racism, death threats, or severe cases of verbal abuse, low-quality posts should not only be considered to be the least serious but also the hardest to define other than consensus.

In order to make the rules more clear, we need examples and a clear definition of what a low-quality post actually is.

Low-effort posting falls under this section of the Universal Rules;

Spamming / Trolling

  • Here is a breakdown of the various types of spam / trolling that we look for:
  • Posting content not related to the discussion
  • Posting a discussion or comment across multiple sub-boards
  • Posting designed to bait conversation or falsify content
  • Making repetitive non-constructive or low effort content
  • Bumping of discussions with no additional context
  • Excessive emoji / icon spam
  • Necromancy of any discussion over 1 month old

The relevant line here being "Making repetitive non-constructive or low effort content".

We don't expect everyone to be posting S+ content or anything, people just want to talk about their passions in the game, so we are ok with simple posts and the occasional venting. However, when you get someone posting rants and threads that are nearly identical frequently in addition to not having any discussion value it starts cluttering the boards and the other boards members start getting really annoyed, especially when the posts seem to be designed to start arguments.

Most posts that are like this are passed over and not deleted as we make judgement calls, but when one individual is doing it repetitively we've got to take into consideration how much of a problem it's added up to be; as you might know, we try to be lenient and transparent, so locks and deletions with warnings will typically be happening several times before we are forced to escalate to a ban. Judgement calls like this are a core of Volunteer Moderation trying to do what's best for the community, because if we have strict guidelines that cannot be varied then we can't probably take care of you guys.

Of course the user might think that their posts have discussion value and are not simple repetitive rants, so we have avenues for them to discuss any removal with us in private over on the Moderation Discord. Additionally, feedback like this is absolutely read by us on Boards Feedback, so if you've got ideas or concerns please continue posting that here.
