I don't understand the "low effort" rule

Worst JG Wins·10/21/2019, 3:05:15 PM·15 votes·12,285 views

Can any mod explain why my post here is "low effort" https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/18cNbTBV

It clearly is asking a question towards Riot and the boards one that should be answered yet it was removed for being "lower effort" Can you explain how i could put more "effort" into my post?

But somehow threads like this here aren't "low effort"

https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/esports/QzwLtpAV-na-at-worlds

Can you explain why you consider this 1 line spam thread to have sufficient "effort"

Why does it take vote for a /remake

The above thread was removed because it includes insults targeted at teammates that make it less of a suggestion or discussion point and more of a rant. Without the line "Why should i be forced to play with 3 delusional children" this would be fine, as your other comments are largely in line with acceptable posting guidelines.

Nothing was removed for low-effort content that I can see, at least on this account.

I'm on the fence with this one. Given E-Sports is for discussing and reacting to E-Sports news and the thread (which is definitely an expression of a reaction to something in the E-sports scene) seems to have created a discussion around a relatively low-effort post, I believe I'd err on the side of leaving it up, although I might want to get a second opinion.

Hello Worst JG Wins, your thread was not removed for "low effort". You seem to have misread "Incorrect sub-board". The thread was on the wrong sub-board as it is more of a "ranty" thread and as such it should be placed on the Rant section. This should hopefully clear up your confusion.

In this thread you stated that your prior thread was removed for Low Effort and I explained to you that that is incorrect.

About what is considered Low Effort, here is an edited description from another moderator:

If expressing frustration was your goal, then we have a dedicated sub-board for that in RANT. However, if you want to discuss what improvements can be made to towers, we do ask that you spend a bit more time on your content. We are actively looking for threads in Gameplay that are content forward so to speak, sparking productive discussion. Merely expressing frustration about something and telling Riot to fix it isn't enough. For example, perhaps your thread could follow this type of structure:

  1. State the problem without ranting
  2. Explain why you think this is a problem
  3. Elaborate on what you think is causing the problem
  4. Provide a solution to the problem
  5. Ask for feedback

Furthermore determining what "Low Effort" is and which threads qualify for it is something that also falls under moderator discretion and that means that moderators can determine for themselves if something is Low Effort. Most removals for LE are made on the Gameplay and Story,Art & Sounds sub-board. When a thread is removed for Low Effort in the Gameplay sub-board, this is mostly the reason why: "We expect posts here to be relevant to League of Legends and be generally constructive in nature. This would include requests for suggestions on builds, matchups, tactics and the like. Posts that are largely complaining should be directed to either RANT or General Discussion."

In your prior thread particularly this part is considered as Rant: "Just spent 44 mins hostage in a game with no hope for a win because my team refuses a /remake vote..." To add, this part is quite inappropriate and inflammatory: "Why should i be forced to play with 3 delusional children who want to lose and vote no on a /remake vote?"

To conclude the thread was too short as we expect extensive, well thought- out threads that offer a healthy solution (which your thread was lacking). (I May be wrong in some points and other moderators are welcome to correct me)

Mods will remove anything that bothers them personally and will hide behind vague rules such as those to cover themselves. Whatever canned response they're going to give you is ultimately a load. This is the truth of the matter.

Gameplay has different requirements as the gameplay board is designed to be for logical discussion not just asking a question to Riot.

A gameplay post should include an explanation of the idea or opinion with evidence.

I don't think anyone actually moderates the esports section of the boards to be fair.

Mod's have needed to be booted for ages now. I had one mute me because he felt like it. Said I was calling everyone "r%%%%%ed" which I wasn't, I had used it in a phrase or something like " that is ret**" and they removed the postt. I made a follow up post saying I don't connect the word and actual handicapped people together because they don't like it and he muted me for three days for the second post which called no one it. Best part is that he went through my entire post history and found where I said "bitch" in a previous post and used that as a reason to ban me for multiple strikes. That is literally targeted harassment. All because the post was about mods needing to be removed. They abuse their power constantly. The low effort removal post is a joke. Who are they to decide what is low effort when I don't need 6 paragraphs to ask a question.

I have two questions I ask myself:

How am I intended to respond to/feel about this content? If the author simply intends for me to join them in complaining, it's probably getting removed. Similarly, posters who just throw something out there in the hope discussion happens are probably going to have their content removed.

How does the community respond to/feel about this content? Most of what I see is what the community reports, so this is usually not great. Sometimes, however, a post I would remove gets enough traction that productive conversation results. This isn't that common, but I do leave them up.

Vagueness in rules exist to misuse them. That is it. There is a reason legal documents are incredibly drawn out and sound insane rather than saying, "Stop doing that." Of course, that should never be needed on a forum. However, actual clarity is. Otherwise, abuses will always happen and gives certain people incentives to misuse the rules to get special treatment.

Agreed Low effort just seems like an excuse to remove posts.

Thunderneedle10/22/2019, 5:36:32 PM2 votes

That's there so they can remove whatever they want for no reason.

Not entirely sure if "low effort" is always a real thing or not, but it could be a combination of two things, a short post thread, and the Mods and people on the forums not liking you very much.

I have had a couple posts taken down for "low effort" and I just added a few sentences to them and put them RIGHT THE FUCK BACK UP!

And there was no issue, so yeah. IN YOUR FACE mods!

Just messin with ya, heh.
