Moderation actions taken?

I understand that context matters, at least on boards, but my question to Riot -

I referred to MYSELF as Autistic because... get this - I have autism. The exact quote was "Autistic ape (geddit? I play a monkey character all but exclusively) here. No I don't [find the word 'autist' offensive]."

It wasn't used in a joking or insulting manner - I was supplying information why my opinion would be relevant to a certain discussion. I was diagnosed at 19 with high functioning Autism, although my pediatrician suspected it at a younger age.

And the ape joke, I repeat, was because I play a literal talking monkey and like thinking of Wukong as representing me. "Buff my Q" "I have low waveclear" "I belong in the jungle" and similar first-person style writing when referring to MonkeyKing

While I appreciate you may have intended it as a playful self-jab, we cannot ask everyone who posts problematic content if they identify with a given condition, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. and find jokes about it acceptable, could not verify it even if we could, and would still have the issues of others who find that language objectionable being forced to encounter it on the boards. As a result, the Universal Rule prohibit even humorous or joking uses of terms as insults:

There are cases where the term "hate speech" may not be fully appropriate, but the language is still discriminatory and offensive when used negatively in regards to an individual or concept. Do not use any language intended to express contempt for an individual or concept on the basis of ethnicity/race, sexual orientation, gender, religion, etc., even if intended humorously or jokingly. This includes, but is not limited to, examples such as those provided below:

  • "gay"
  • "r%%%%%" or "r%%%%%ed"
  • "jew"
  • "autistic"

Pejorative language is usually subject to escalated punishments, depending on the content in question.

Are those vote bots back?

I think the Boards have seen some similar cases to this, kudos to you for not taking offense to "autist." In the other cases though, Riot's essential response was "We said you can't say it, so don't say it."

You say "context matters, at least on the boards," which is true when you're on the Boards. However, Riot's policy is actually "Context doesn't matter" when they are punishing in-game actions. The "context doesn't matter" refers to the auto-detection system for abusive chat, as it essentially looks at "did they say it?" and "did they get reported?" In regular/extreme cases the bot will issue a punishment regardless of reports, and it likely deemed your case as extreme because you said multiple things it deemed as abusive even though you might have used personal pronouns like "I" or "me."

I doubt Riot will lift this punishment, whatever it may be. If you got a chat ban/14-day suspension, I think you might just have to wait it out. If you got permabanned, best of luck fighting Riot to get the account back (but I doubt you'd be permabanned just from this alone).

And what about others who find it offensive? I'm Muslim. Does that mean I can say "Towel head checking in"? No

The fact that Riot is too stupid to include context when making decisions puts a damper on a lot of things ... Context can 100% change meanings etc .. but who cares about all of that .. Now I'm going to color .. bye

According to people in charge the word is extremely offensive to some people and so the rest of us must watch our tongue.

simple solution, refrain from using words that you know will send people into a fervor. regardless of context a huge portion of the world really doesn't want people saying offensive things anywhere, no matter who is saying it or how its being said

same happened to me, but for a thread i called my self the r word, but spelled it slightly differently. got removed for "dodging the language filter"

Context is irrelevant in game and on here. If you post something that can be twisted into an offensive word/context its gonna get removed. Not saying I agree, but it is what it is. Mods won't care about your opinion or the communities opinion; the only opinion that matters to them is their own. But that's how it should be. If you want more lenient moderation become a moderator yourself and make decisions that improve the boards not censor them.

It doesn't matter whether or not you have Autism. Calling your monkey-man-main autistic sounds derogatory, not self-depreciative. That and Riot doesn't know whether or not you actually have HFA.

Given the way you're writing, I'm having a hard time grasping that you don't understand just how bad of an idea it is to share a diagnosis on a video game. Your alleged diagnosis is irrelevant here. Your words matter. But you didn't share that, right? The diagnosis. You just wanted to make a joke involving HFA and were punished for it... and it so happens that you have it, too.

Your account level is level 33 and you've already decided you're maining Wuk for life (name...). Did you just start playing league recently?

Edit: And not to mention that you didn't mention when you said "Autistic Ape." Context matters.

........My mommy always told me that it was healthy to express a healthy skepticism towards everyone on the internet.

You're beginning to understand... the rules don't matter merely their interpretation, which changes on a whim as it suits them.

Am I allowed to say "help me you walnut" during team fights?
