[Discussion]: Boards UI for 2020

About a day or two ago, The Boards received a new interface with the new version of the League of Legends website. This was a change that took me and quite alot of board goers by surprise and so far, I'm not a huge fan of it for 2 reasons:

  • Updates/Notifications: We can no longer check to see if we received any comments on our posts unless we actually search it up. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/myupdates (Thanks to KFCeytron for the link, this one is for the NA Boards)

  • Mobile: I spend a good portion of my day on the boards and most of the time, I'm not at home. On mobile, the UI is even more busted. I cant swap between HOT or NEW topics and the drop down menu (where you can create a new post or swap to other subboards) is unresponsive. Opening the website in Desktop view remedies this, but it's not something I want to do all the time.

Also aside from the posts we got from Happy Haddock, I haven't seen any official posts from the Mod Team or Board Devs regarding the UI Changes. I understand the Mods aren't being paid and have no obligation to browse/interact with us (we all have busy lives, its understandable), but someone should have at least kept us in the loop if there were major changes planned here.

How does everyone else feel about these changes?

I will quote another Herald:

The Volunteer team's board developers don't control all Riot site-related decisions, and can only work within the framework given to us. This wasn't Wuk's call (or ours) to make, so please bear with us as we try to figure out what our options here are.

We're doing our best to figure out what we can do, but the link to the updates is the only thing we can do at the moment. We're extremely sorry for the issues!

Riot does not have to keep everyone in the goddamn world "in the loop" when making changes to their website. Yes, the lack of a notification area is a huge oversight. No, this whole thing overall is not a big deal. They changed the top nav bar to keep it aligned with the rest of their branding. This is a thing that companies do all the goddamn time.

This is not a hard thing to believe or accept, and I assure you that we'll all survive.

400 outrage posts because they didn't notify each and every one of us personally is not going to make anything happen.

They should at least add the notifications back.

I can't properly use the boards if I don't get any feedback if someone has answered to a comment or post of mine.
