Why Do Rioters Respond To Unimportant Stuff But Not Things Everyone Wants To Know?

"Says hi to a rioter" - Rioter responds "What type of jedi are you" - Rioter responds "How old is Jhin, Fourty?" - Rioter responds "Why does my shop not work?" - Rioter responds "[Insert any question about the game like runes being ... or tanks being ..., etc]" - No response

But dont worry, Rioters say they see all but just dont post. Thats why Ardent Censor wasnt nerf for 6 months, even tho we complained about it on the boards everyday for 6 months. EleGiggle

Because unless they're 100% certain on the answer and are approved to publicly share that information it will have consequences.

If they answer a question and they do something else the community will respond feeling lied to.

And of course the issue of getting harassed if people don't like the answer.

So there are a few reasons. Here's some of them.

  • Not every Rioter works with every part of the company. The right Rioter might not see the post.
  • The community often posts questions in a very black/white manner, suggesting there is a certain right or wrong answer, or that something is simply horribly designed. That's not conducive to having a meaningful discussion.
  • Rioters have full-time jobs, and the boards aren't necessarily part of that job. Posting is a nice thing they do sometimes, not a requirement.
  • Rioters are, ultimately, also people, and also members of the community. They're totally allowed to interact and goof around with the community if/when they want to do so.

Because they know they would bring the mother of all shitstorms down upon them.

People dramatically overestimate how much of game changes are based off boards... 90% of posts about "balance" are nothing but silver players refusing to accept they played a lane wrong and learn from it so they just go to boards to find people who will agree with them that x champion is busted so they can validate themselves. This is why snowball champions like yas and riven get the most hate from the boards, because you feel it the most when you lose lane to them.

But there's a balance team that actually plays this game alot, and can make much more valid opinions about champ adjustments, and if players really dont like the direction the game is going, they vote with their wallets, not board posts. This is only representative of a percent of a percent of the community.
