So you decided to let volunteers with no experience nor training in community management take over

At least with the Player behavior and moderation board that was toxic and honestly a cesspool of the worst users you could find in the boards you experimented with this and no one cared because lets face it... why use the boards if you can use reddit?... specially the most toxic and useless board of them all.

But now those inexperienced and without any kind of training in community management are taking over General Discussion... welp I guess Reddit is getting more subscribers....

You realize there is an application and interview process by Keyru herself, and the moderation will be monitored by the people that know what they are doing, right? It isn't just "Hey want to be a mod? Ok here you go, mod privileges for everyone".

I can see that you're upset, so allow me to alleviate some of your concerns:

  1. Most, if not all, of the Arbiters have ample experience in community engagement in some way or another. For instance, elduris and I have been working with the League of Legends community in several different capacities for several years now. We helped players in Help & Support as Wrenchmen, engaged players of different backgrounds and situations in Player Behavior & Moderation, and worked with volunteers from across the world to build this program. Deep Terror Nami's been part of the Forum/Boards community even longer than I have and has been a positive force for the most part. And this is just within the League of Legends community; each of us have experiences in the real world that have shaped us as well. I'm not saying the Arbiters are perfect, but I think we're more experienced than you give us credit for. Somewhere down the line, we'll introduce ourselves in-depth so you can understand where we're coming from, but until then, you can take our word for it or not. It's not really that relevant because...
  2. The Arbiters aren't taking over General Discussion. As a matter of fact, we're hardly even going to touch General Discussion. That's why we're opening up applications for General Discussion moderators. The Arbiters will moderate almost exclusively the Player Behavior sub-board. General Discussion will be moderated by folks who are ingrained within the community, are respected by their peers, and understand the GD culture better than most others. We didn't just think of this transition overnight; we've been discussing this for months, and we're confident the changes will be positive.

If you feel like there's somewhere our volunteers can improve, I'll be happy to take that feedback and personally work with the volunteers to ensure that they're operating at or above community standards. I'm sorry to hear you're upset with the changes, but hopefully this cleared up the proposed changes.

Skimming through your posts, you seem to never post on GD. Most of GD is in favor of the change, and indeed has been asking for it for a long time.

I have posted on GD for years, I don't recognize you, why do you care what happens to GD?

Greetings.

As you probably DON'T know, the European Boards are entirely moderated by Volunteers. And while our Boards are considerably smaller, I can assure you that the quality of moderation does not drop because Volunteers are handling it!

no need to get mad at GD and the boards in general just because you aren't fit to be a mod :)

Somebody has to let a troll mod in on April 1.

It must be done.

While at least one of you may be paying attention, is there any intention to have a middle-man between the balance team and Gameplay? A lot of repeat threads could be nixed with some key posts. Possibly.

I'm just curious how you KNOW they have no experience or training in community management. I mean, I used to Board Admin for GameForge, but it's not something I put on my resume. Is there documentation showing that these people aren't qualified to use good judgement?
