This is probably wrong to say among the majority of boards userbase but I think August is 100% right

First I want to mention this exclusively goes for the "gameplay" aswell as the "player behaviour" sections respectively the rest is pretty much fine in my eyes.

I can see how from a Rioter POV the boards are not even worth it to read when stuff like this gets upvoted heavily:

https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/19YAgMEW-yasuo-is-fair https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/eFbwy0oA-can-we-please-just-nerf-yasuo-into-the-ground https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/BrdXI73N-zed-overkill-at-pro-play-from-100-0

Threads like these which have 0 substance and are heavily biased towards specific champs are posted daily, mostly caused by one person venting about a champ because they lost against them in one game.

This wouldnt be such a problem if you could yield a civil discussion in the comments atleast, but if you go even slightly against the popular circlejerk("katana man bad" or "ninja man oneshots" for example) you get downvoted heavily, this happens a lot to mods for some reason lol.

The complete opposite however also exists if you mention anything negative about mages you get brigaded by mage mains who are defending their champs which wouldnt so bad but you also get downvoted and the hivemind/circlejerk further increases. In general the boards have a boner for mages/adc smh.

The funny thing is people who post "x champ is op,watch salty x mains defending and downvoting" are totally fine when they defend x champ however the difference is again that the circlejerk is so strong for x champs like Yasuo or Zed that people will upvote no matter what it says it just needs to be negative.

Not only the "gameplay" corner is problematic imo "player behaviour" can be worse in some cases. People constantly saying that they got unfairly banned (I personally despise Riot´s stand to Toxicity >Trolling/Inting) and then people jumping how Riot is such a trash company only for realising at the end that the OP didn´t post the full info why he got unfairly banned there should be more proof needed to post such threads tbh.

In general boards have the tendency to become the laughing stock in the gaming community see OW,WoW,LoL e.t.c. I think however Reddit also has similiar problems but thats a different case alltogether.

So since I dont want to sound like a Hypocrite I also want to mention some aspects which could improve the boards imo:

  1. I think there should be a harsher ruleset for posting in the "Gameplay" sections, shitpost like x champ is broken then listing all the abilities in a biased manner shouldnt be allowed tbh.

  2. There definitely needs to be more proof needed for posting "I got unfairly banned" in "player behaviour".

  3. Downvotes/Upvotes in the "Gameplay" section should be removed imo, this only increases the circlejerk and brings a bad image overall to the boards, maybe mods could bring up threads , however this would also need mods not abusing this for their own agenda.

  4. Rioters should engage more with the community and maybe give more insight into balancing, data e.t.c for example I really liked how RiotBlaustoise talked with LLStylish about Zed and general data about champions was really interesting. If Rioters could show more insight people wouldnt get so upset and rely on 3rd party sites to proof their point.

If problems like these wont get adressed the LoL boards will never be taken seriously and I think August is not the only Rioter who thinks like that but he was the only one with enough courage to say it.

I agree with some parts of this but not all of it (For example I do think that "katana man bad" lol, but that's a discussion for another day). But other parts I agree with, especially harsher regulations on the gameplay section of the boards. I think there are a lot of people on the gameplay boards that post well thought out, non-biased, criticism and suggested changes to characters and game mechanics. The only problem is that those well thought out posts get drowned out in a sea of "X is broken REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" style posts that take no effort to make and get tons of upvotes. And since the only thing that most people who post those "REEEEE" style posts care about is upvotes, it incentives them to keep feeding into the circlejerk for the free attention. There needs to be some kind of system put into place to filter out the REEE posts to make room for well thought out constructive posts. I think that's what Gameplay+ was supposed to be but it kinda flopped on its head. So I don't really have any ideas on what to do there.
