The reason it's taking so long for the next Champ

I've seen a lot of people complaining about how there hasn't even been a hint at the next Champion. While I understand and agree that it's been far too long (one dev said there were 8 Champs in play testing...guess that means they already have three years worth getting ready at this rate), the reason they haven't hinted or released is obvious.

Look at the Champs released since Worlds patch last year.

Lucian - Broken Jinx - Too Strong Yasuo - Broken Vel'Koz - Super Strong (lack of mobility hurts him) Braum - Broken

All of these Champs have been released with severely overloaded kits that are broken half the time and have to be nerfed into the ground. Now imagine if Riot released a new, broken Champ onto the Rift right before Worlds. Hello Trinity Force change 2.0.

Riot isn't going to risk that. They'd rather keep competitive integrity (I laughed at myself writing this after the NA Regionals fiasco we have) and tweak some numbers on current Champs to create more diversity.

TL;DR Riot doesn't want to risk releasing a broken Champ onto the Worlds patch.

Maybe if we nerf Irelia, the universe will balance itself and equalize the rest of the champions.

While this makes sense, I would rather they just disable him for worlds than keep the rest of the community waiting, if this is the actual reason for the delay.

They can just disable any champs they feel are unfair or not balanced yet...

I agree Lucian was and still is very strong. Jinx, on the other hand, I feel was probably the most balanced release I've seen in a long time.

Yasuo was very unusual, and brought alot to the table that people didn't know how to deal with, but once people started figuring it out, he no longer seems nearly so overpowered.

Vel'Koz was kind of the opposite. From what I saw, alot of people found him underwhelming, and easy to counter, but a few people picked him up and were good with him right away. Like Yasuo he brings something new to the table, but it took a while for people to figure out how to use him well rather than for people to figure out how to counter him.

As for Braum, he was definitely a bit much, but I honestly didn't mind since he was support. It didn't take all that much to bring him down to a more balanced level either.
