Olaf is extremely bad right now and not fun to use and on top of that he is really bad in teamfight's cause he melt's instantly.

I'd love for Riot to at least acknowledge that Olaf's been in a bad spot for some time now.

I honestly don't know how to go about fixing him myself, but even something as simple as a "we're looking at it" would suffice.

he may be bad right now but he is unstoppable if fed, like its gg once he has 2-3 kills

Honestly it's hard to balance Olaf. His passive guarantees outrade potential even against Jax and Fiora, allowing him to build straight damage, and thus can be built ridiculously tanky while still hitting like a truck (my late game Olaf build gives him over 3K health, 40% crit chance, 70% reduced physical damage, 62% reduced magic damage, and either magic damage per hit (jungle) or attack damage that scales with lost health (top). Add to the fact he gets an ultimate that's Gangplank's W on steroids, passive lifesteal, and a dunk that deals true damage, and you've got yourself a hella powerful kit. He makes up for it by not having any gap closers, but then again I main Gangplank, so I have no problem chasing even Singeds and Lee Sins down and popping a couple of caps in their asses. Olaf instead chucks a masssive axe that slows them down. I think that Olaf has a pretty swell kit for the most part, but needs some number tweaks, especially on his Q. His ultimate could use some tweaks as well. Other than that, his W and E are pretty sweet.

His solo laneing isn't too much of an issue, even against the regular hyper carries when played smart he can still evenly/out trade/duel them.

Where he falls short is in a teamfight scenario. As a high dps champion, he's a priority target and as such needs to keep some distance and stay alive; but if he does this he's not doing any damage, making him all but irrelevant to the fight. If he goes into the fray, his only hope is if the enemy team is already at half health, so he can slam them down one by one while regaining health, which puts him in an assassin role which his kit is not designed for.

He essentially needs a stronger engage in a group scenario in order to make him more prominent in teamfights, rather than an all in tank with no damage, or a wait and enter assassin; presuming the fight goes in your teams favor.

Honestly, I have yet to understand what's wrong about Olaf. He is the champion with which I do the best. I'm interested in hearing your opinion, so I'll list a few of current Olaf's strengths.

His laning phase is pretty strong. If you're playing against almost any melee champion, you're going to have a tough time losing. He can spam a true damage nuke, which costs a negligible amount of health, doesn't draw minion aggro, and is available so often you can pretty much drop it whenever he wants to farm. If he's not going too aggressive, he has long range poke, and a steroid that provides him with innate sustain, so he can endure even when behind.

He is one of the best duelists in the game. His passive, coupled with the sustain portion on his W, makes him insanely strong in duels. He gets more DPS the lower on health he is, and if he's tanky enough, he can make that sliver of health go a long way. This also contributes to his excellent laning phase, and his counter-jungling skills.

He is a good splitpusher. Since he has two attack speed steroids, and BotRK is a common item on him, he is very good at taking down towers. And since he's such a good duelist, sending only one person after him doesn't usually yield good results, while sending two will alloy your team to fight a 4v3, or take down another tower.

His one true weakness is teamfights, though not to the extent you propose. He has no initiation tools, or no gapcloser, and he can't use his passive to its maximum potential.. However, this doesn't mean he doesn't have a role to play in skirmishes. He is a fighter, a "bulky assassin". After the tank or anyone else initiates (Malphite, Sejuani, or Zyra's ults come to mind), Olaf runs in (preferably with ghost) and starts laying down axes and Reckless swings at the target squishy. Depending on how much damage he's built, he'll either kill him, or force him to burn flash, and exit the fight. And since Olaf's naturally tanky (and should be built tanky anyways), he should have no problem surviving.

This provides a champion that, in my opinion, is balance, and I am eager to read yours.

I only have problems against teams with multiple dashes and movementspeed boosts. I play him toplane exclusively though. Still, Olaf is beast, but contrary to popular belief, he's hard to use effectively. Chaining and weaving axes, E's and auto attacks properly in the heat of duels and teamfights is different than clearing a jungle camp.

Anyway Hydra and Botrk/Zephyr/Bt/Bc/Maw/nothing is all the offensive items you need. For maximum damage and tankyness for the early game you're better off capping 40% cdr.

Don't mean to be rude, but my friend occasionally plays olaf jungle/top, and is usally the carry or a close second. Maybe you guys just aren't playing him right. If anything he needs a nerf (like an extra 2 seconds on his ax cooldown

hahahahahaahahahaahahaahahaahahahhaahahhaahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaahahhahahaah ahhhhhhhhhhh oh man. Nah we need the phrase "Getting Olafed" to stay so he's not gonna get buffed. I laughed because he just got beatin' into the ground with the nerf stick, which made him garbage.

Olaf is fine I think you are just playing him wrong. Do you play him jungle or top?

savaii7/15/2014, 12:38:08 AM1 votes

Maybe a change in approach to playin him is needed? We can think of Olaf as a midgame champ who needs to snowball as early as possible and force the game to end before late game. This mindset will require certain team champion picks to be most effective, but will maximise Olaf's time to shine and therefore increase chance of winning with him. IMO.

If you beat the tar out of your opponent top lane, you won't have that issue. He gets fed easily.

I do well with olaf all the time, hell, he got me my first penta.

Your probably playing him all wrong...

though Olaf sure is very niche atm...you really don´t offer much for a discussion with that opening post.
